FAQ

Since 1998 until now, 2011, our Guestbook contains extracts from some of our past clients feedback who have been on an African Safari, a self-drive holiday or used our efficient services to make bookings at luxury lodges, hotels, holiday resorts for their vacation in Southern Africa, since I started the company in 1996.
If you wish to confirm our credentials or services with a couple of these past clients, we will supply you with their contact details. Our most recent clients are listed at the bottom of this web page - so scroll down for the most recent comments. We do not spend thousands on Dollars or Rands on marketing, as we rely on word of mouth, referrals and our website – and from the fabulous comments below, you can see why we are a successful Tour Operator for safaris, holidays, vacations for tourists to Southern Africa from Cape Town to Kenya. Feel free to contact any South Africa Tourism office (SA Tourism) or any of the hotels or lodges we list on our website - or visit our RESOURCES page - and contact one of our past clients who have their own website, to verify that we are a reputable, well established and efficient Tour Operator.
Please also read our FAQ and download the Booking Procedures, as it explains a lot about how to book, payment procedures, cancellation policies and useful information.

Note, Like our Dean's Diary editions, it is very time consuming to keep this updated, and so my apologies... my priority is to plan and run first class safaris for our clients and then the feedback and admin work on display is a 2nd priority - (done when I have a free moment, which is seldom!) Sorry. In 2004, I had to end my writing up of Dean's Diary, as there was just not enough time in my day!

1998

Allan P - Pike and Musket, England - Zululand Safari
The trip was very well planned and worked well with the timing to perfection. The mood of the trip was of a very light humour but very informative. Every part had something of interest and I learned quite a lot from the information given.

Brad F, SA - Zululand Safari
Fantastic ! "Eagle Eyes Dean" didn't miss any of the wildlife. The tour was planned to the last detail and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Benny & Bente N, Denmark - Zululand Safari, Cape Town holiday
Everything worked out perfectly exactly the way we dreamed about from home and we sincerely hope to be able to come back again to make new experiences with you (and hope you'll take us along again.)

Carol, Ned, Keriann & Spencer B, USA - Zimbabwe & Botswana Safari
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the trip. I recommend the mixture of camping, chalets and lovely accommodation, as we experienced the "Real Africa" - sand, dust, heat, wildlife, as well as rafting at Vic Falls, lovely accommodation in S. Africa and beautiful Kruger Park.

Stan B, USA - Botswana and Zimbabwe self-drive safari
Dean was a tremendous help in organizing the trip and I would highly recommend his services to anyone planning a trip to Southern Africa. He definitely went out of his way to assist me in even the most trivial of requests.

Jacques, Mikie, Jan, Kaoru & Robert, Belgium - Namibian Safari
Putting the lives of six important business-men in the hands of an African Safari leader is one thing, but exactly at that moment crawled an experienced Scout-leader out of the back. Every morning and evening, he invented for us fantastic meals.

Koen van H, Belgium - Namibian Safari
We all experienced Africa in an unforgettable way. One man has the credit for all this - Dean. We met him and lived with him for 2 weeks. We all experienced him as a guy in whom you can put your trust. Always prepared to serve with whatever and above all, trustworthy.

Angela P, USA - Umfolosi-Hluhluwe Game Reserve & Sani Pass
Dean's flawless arrangements never ceased to amaze me, including his seemingly tireless appearance. He was ever alert to our needs, lighting fires in the cold, lamps in the dark, reversing from the determined elephant and baking beer bread when the monkey ate our supplies!

Stephen S, UK - Umfolosi-Hluhluwe Game Reserve & Sani Pass
Thanks for showing us around Dean; it can't have been easy being the neutral observer in the midst of our nuclear family. You showed fine calibre when entering the arena of The Family Game and even managed to let me win at snooker.

David & Bernie M, UK - Honeymoon Safari - two weeks, Transkei, Drakensberg, Kruger & Zululand
We were very fortunate to have found Dean via the Internet. He planned an interesting, very comprehensive tour of South Africa. We visited the lovely Transkei, the Drakensberg Mountains - Sani Pass, Lesotho, visited relaxing game reserves, Kruger Park, Swaziland and Zululand.

Anne & Gary P. UK - Zululand Safari - Shakaland and Umfolosi-Hluhluwe Game reserves
Dean was always one step ahead in thought and always had things arranged. Hope to travel with you and the 'moby' Dean in the very near future!

Carl & Emma H, UK - Zululand Safari
Out of this world experience. Spectacular scenery and accommodation. Nothing was too much trouble for Dean who was very good at spotting wildlife !

Sacha Y, USA - Lesotho Day trip
The trip was great - we really made the most of the day...... Dean was fun....thank you.

Joyce B, USA - Zululand
Yours was not the standard commercial approach and that is what makes you and your company so particularly unique. I thank you for a memory I will hold for the remainder of my life.

Jackie K, New Mexico - Zululand Safari
With Gratitude for a most enjoyable adventure and a real appreciation for your country. The experience has been far better than any TV version I have seen or imagined.

Carmen U, New Mexico - Zululand Safari
You're the best guide as your insight, knowledge & experience were greatly appreciated, as well as your patience, flexibility, organisation and timeliness.

Lisbeth B, Denmark - Zululand Safari
I really enjoyed the trip and your company. I know that you took extra special care to make my tour possible and I do appreciate that.

Renate & Maxwell C, UK - Hluhluwe-Umfolosi Game Reserves
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the game reserves with Dean. He is an excellent Guide, well organized and has a wonderful ability to spot animals.

Roberta & John B, England - Zululand Safari
Everything about it was great and we will definitely be recommending Dean as a Tour Operator to all our friends in the U.K. This guy certainly deserves to get on as he puts 101% into all he does.

Angela & Billy M, England - Zululand Safari
Dean puts his self out when it comes to you having a good holiday. Hope to come back soon and do something else that Dean can organise.

Eva & Seamus B, USA - Bonamanzi & Hluhluwe-Umfolosi Reserve
I wish we weren't leaving SA so soon, or that we had made the African Bundu connection earlier in our visit - we would have gotten more out of our time here.

Peter, Monica, Charles, Daniel, Simon & Emma W, England - Wild Coast Safari
Dean's equipment enabled us to do much more than if we came direct from overseas. Dean is an excellent cook, has a good sense of humour, is fun to be with and is a very organised person.

Randy T, USA - Sani Pass day trip
Shakaland was exciting and your personal touch made it great.

Bob & Delphine D, Australia - Sani Pass day Trip
I had every confidence you would provide us with a safe trip. Tour Operator is FIRST CLASS in his field.

Graham & Heather C, SA - Namibian Safari
WOW! Thank you so VERY much for a simply wonderful experience & for allowing us to achieve our travel goals! OUTSTANDING trip & organisation!
1999

Antonio R & buddies, Spain - Zululand Safari: Umfolosi, Itala, Pongola, Tembe, Kosi & Iphiva:
We were interested mainly in game-viewing (and we had a lot of it) but we also learnt about traditions, life-style, politics and much more, all thank you to Dean's skills. We found EXCELLENCE at all places we were taken.

John, Denise, Sophie, Natasha and Neil, England - Zimbabwe Safari, Zimbabwe Ruins, Matobos, Hwange, Vic Falls & Kariba:
There were so many special moments - The game walks, the horse safaris, the falls, the moonlight drive at Hwange, the lions at their kill, the View of the World. However, white water rafting was the high spot for me.

Rhoda D & Marion G, USA - Cape Town, Garden Route Guided and Selfdrive to Game Reserve:
Your professionalism, knowledge, people you work with, coordinating events and attractions -- we could not ask for more. All was extraordinarily well -planned, and even left us time to go off on our own, if we so desired.

Karin A, Hilde & Werne G, Vienna, Austria - Hluhluwe-Umfolosi Safari Tented Camp:
It was a fantastic time, much too short, but we are going to make a plan to come back for another holiday with Dean.

Neil and Tanya M, United Kingdom - Cape Town and Garden Route:
apart from the holiday, we also had our best 'tour' there which was a coastal safari. Riaan was the most enthusiastic and informative man imaginable - we only had 2 and a half hours with him but it was great.

Mike and Carin, England - Kruger Safari:
When we booked our 3-night stay in Kruger with African Bundu Safaris we had no idea what an incredible experience we were letting ourselves in for. Thanks to excellent arrangements and expert advice, we not only had a great time we also saw loads of game - including the Big Five.

Keith & Jon B - USA living in Saudi Arabia -Zululand Safari - Umfolosi, Hluhluwe, Emdoneni, Dumazulu & St Lucia :
I've never seen the patience you've shown in a person before. Whether we're waking up late, losing (misplacing) a video camera or just allowing your talk to be interrupted by a curious child.

Karl, Gerald and Bill, England - Zululand Birding Safari:
Bill, Gerald and myself wanted to come to South Africa & bird watch from dawn to dusk. Thanks to your knowledge and expert guidance we were able to do this without any problems.

Nik B, England - Zululand Safari - Shakaland, Umfolosi & St Lucia:
We stopped when and where wanted and also when Dean spotted the game, which was far more frequent than we did! His eyesight experience and SOME of his jokes were invaluable. The only way to see what you want is to book the best there is.

Kitty, John and Devin L, USA - Zululand Safari:
Our Travel Agent in the States failed us after months of promising to arrange African Safaris - but within 10 minutes of contacting African Bundu by e-mail, Dean responded with a myriad of mouth-watering choices. I can't say enough about his excellent game-spotting abilities, boundless energy, hard work and great patience and humour!

THE WRINKLIES, Scotland - SA Tour:
EVERYTHING was absolutely A1 and I would have no hesitation in recommending his services to anyone who is perhaps a little unsure of a trip to SA.

Gert-Jan R, UK - Honeymoon in Kwazulu Natal:
Dean arranged everything for us, from car hire to accomodation to route planning. If you want a really good South Africa experience, Dean can help you even on your budget!!
2000

Ute, Hansrainer, Julia, Moritz & Nena B, Germany - Cape Town, Durban, St Lucia, Kruger, Vic Falls, Sun City:
Rainer found Dean's Website - he couldn't have done any better! 1000 e-mails went back and forth and at last Dean had tailored us a perfect itinerary.

Greg N & friends, London - Johannesburg, Sabie, Pezulu and Kruger:
What can I say? Tip-top tour, Dean mixes local legend & love to create the total African experience. Unforgettable.

Irene, Raul and Delfi, Argentina - JNB, Kruger, Zululand, DBN:
It was fun for Delfi, also, having the young animals to play with in Tshukudu, you should have seen her telling all about it to her friends. She knows Shumba's story, she remembers the little elephant they had up there at Zimbabwe, she loved the little zebra.

Kevin & Helen S with children, UK - Cape Town & Area:
Dean, you are a very knowledgeable guide (I don't use the term tour guide) for a few reasons, you are and will always be a great friend, you make the trips personal and tailormade to suit the individuals. Thank you for all that you have done & for looking after my wife & children for the other 8 days.

Gavin and Louise T, Australia, Hluhluwe, Umfolosi, Phinda:
Words simply can't describe the experience we encountered over our four-day safari tour. The professionalism of Dean our Tour Guide, the incredible wildlife, the food and accommodation captured the true safari experience.

Ray & Laurel, USA - Sun City & Johannesburg to Durban via Game Reserve:
Can guarantee that if we plan another trip to South Africa, we will be calling on your expert advice and planning skills to help us layout another action packed itinerary. In addition, I have already passed along your name to some other folks.

Bill & Sam, USA - Durban, Umfolosi, Hluhluwe, St Lucia:
We both had a great time in SA and I could write many, many pages telling you how wonderful everything was. The accommodations and the service were excellent.

Nina, Allegra & Sam, San Francisco - Johannesburg, St Lucia, Tembe, Tshukudu, Kruger:
I feel especially fortunate that I found you---travelling with a 17 year old and a 4 year old is not the easiest thing to do, and you were so especially sensitive and helpful and fun to be with. You have a great, gentle and caring way with people and you are especially talented with children.

Mary B & Michael D, USA - Sabie, Kruger, Hoedspruit, Swaziland, Kosi Bay:
What a wonderful introduction to South Africa! From being picked up at Jo'burg airport and then travelling to Pretoria, Sabie, Kruger, Maputaland and beyond .. Michael and I had a terrific time.

Jane C & family, England - Umfolosi, Hluhluwe,St Lucia Safari:
You're the only real person I've ever met with x-ray eyes. You spot wildlife through the trees!! During our visit we saw all "The Big Five", something we previously had only dreamed about.

Christopher & Huichae M, USA - Cape Town, Durban through Swaziland to Kruger and Johannesburg - selfdrive:
I would be pleased to have you list my email address on your site as a reference for any prospective travellers looking for confirmation that ABS delivers as expected. Whether a client desires a self-drive trip such as ours, or a full-blown guided expedition, I would gladly recommend ABS to any and all.

Wayne & Jo M, USA - Durban, Shakaland, Umfolosi, Vidal, Kosi Bay, Tembe Elephant, Kruger Park, Chitwa Chitwa, Johannesburg:
The memories will last a lifetime and are far too many to name. South Africa was and will always remain glorious. Thank you for helping us find the only full-size Zulu warriors shield in South Africa.
2001

Arne, Elly, Dick & Joost, Netherlands - MYSTERY TOUR from Port Elizabeth to Durban, self-drive to Pretoria:
From that moment on it became a real Mystery Tour, because our 'teacher' started to give us some puzzles we had to solve to find out our next days destination. What fun! We managed to locate practically every place/lodge/guesthouse before we went off. After a beautiful, scenic tour, including mud wrestling with the bus... we arrived for the last nights before Durban - at Umfolosi Game Reserve. How exciting, we spotted the Big 5 !!! (From Dean - I must add, I was given a budget, a starting point and a finishing point - and the rest of the trip had to remain a secret to them, so every corner, destination, lodge, reserve was a mystery to my clients. Very exciting and enjoyable!!)

Nik and Angela B, UK, - Durban, St Lucia, Hluhluwe/Umfolosi, Thula, Iphiva, Umhlanga, Sani Pass, Durban:
This was my second trip to SA, organised by Dean, and Angela's first. Its nice to see that even though Dean's company has doubled its workforce in the last two years, the personal touch has not changed!!

Horst V, Switzerland - Zimbabwe and Zambia, Solar Eclipse 2001:
Fothergill Island finally produced what I missed during the first days of the trip: hippos, monkeys, lions, snakes, yes and ELEPHANTS! Not just one, but many. And very close. During a walking safari through the bush they actually were closer than one usually would want to have them.

Prab & Jane G, UK - Zambia and Zimbabwe, Solar Eclipse 2001:
African Bundu Safaris of Durban, South Africa was the most economical and they also suggested a number of variations and sent me information on these variations to let me make-up my own mind. After a few discussions and negotiations, all conducted by email, a plan evolved which was both exciting and adventurous.

Greg and Jennifer B (Honeymoon), USA - Durban, Sibayi Lake, Tembe Reserve, Pongola Reserve, Mkhaya Reserve, Tshukudu Reserve:
The entire trip was without flaw. We went on safari (and saw every animal you could hope for), snorkelling, walked with orphaned animals. It was amazing. I fully recommend working with Dean.

Mike and Robby P, USA - Johannesburg, Hoedspruit, Kruger, Swaziland, Mozambique, Sodwana Bay, Umfolosi, Witsieshoek/Drakensberg, Johannesburg:
Wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for a great trip. After all the dozens of e-mails, the trip came together extremely well. Thanks again for all the suggestions. Unbelievable looking back on how much we were able to do & see. Nobody could go wrong using your services.

Celine & Nick, Canada - Durban, Mkuze, Itala, Umfolosi, Durban - HONEYMOON:
Mkuze was best for the people and game-viewing, Itala for the shower and toilet and Umfolosi for the accommodations and night drive. We tried the lodge restaurants but we must say that Dean's cooking beats it by far. Must try Dean's Stir-Fry!
2002

Ruth , Hong Kong: Sabi Sands, Sun City, :
Lion Sands was an excellent place to stay. The accommodation was very comfortable and the room was facing the Sabi Sand River where we could see hippo and elephant from our room. As far as the food goes, they basically served us seven meals a day including three big meals and four small snacks. Awesome... The part I liked most was the open vehicle where they only arrange my family and I in one vehicle, lots of privacy.

Myrto & Yiannis, Greece: MalaMala, Rocktail Bay, Cape Town, Kalahari.
We really wanted to thank you for all your arrangements and especially for the effort to find us accommodation in Cape Town. We promise that next time we will decide the trip early enough to organize everything.

Jane & David H, UK - Zululand Safari –
Thank-you for organising such a terrific holiday for us. We've travelled all over the world and this was our best trip yet. Shiney was the perfect companion for us and really added value - I hope I've made a friend. Thank-you also for the anniversary present, which was very thoughtful of you both.

Chris, UK: Cape Town & Tshukudu –
Thank you so much for all the work you put in. In particular your suggestion for me to visit Tshukudu was inspired - it was the highlight of my holiday, what a wonderful place with such fantastic people. I'll be sure to usher everyone I can in your direction. My hidden agenda is to try to get our offices relocated to Cape Town - wish me luck!

Rhiannan & Jonny, Honeymoon: Sabi Sands, Lesotho, Cape Town –
Thanks for the welcome! Not so sure we're pleased to be back though! Chitwa Chitwa was simply amazing, and we'd highly recommend that to anyone, especially honeymoon couples.

Jonny, Honeymoon - as above:
Thanks again for all your help in the run up to our dream holiday and for your quick turn around when we were in trouble... You've consistently offered A1 service and support by simply answering on all occasions so quickly and comprehensively! It was those qualities that made you stand out from the beginning and so it came as no surprise that all your planning came together so smoothly in practise!

Henrik K, USA: Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Vic Falls:
I would like to thank you for all of your assistance and advise in organizing this trip. Your help has been first class and you always responded promptly with answers to any questions that I might have had. Dean's e-mails with advice ranging from tipping to personal safety were helpful in quenching many of the worries that I had prior to my departure. Overall, I had a truly fantastic trip, which I would love to do all over again. My research went well and my touring of South Africa organized by African Bundu Safaris was great.

Andy W, USA: Zululand
I had a wonderful time and I was amazed at the amount of big game I was able to see in such a short amount of time! The boat tour was wonderful and the accommodations and car hire worked out well also.

Andy S, UK: Vic Falls, JNB, Tshukudu, Chitwa, and Cape Town
- Mount Nelson Hotel was excellent. Had a good room. Staff very friendly. Great City. Tour with Eric of wine district was terrific. We definitely want to go back to Capetown again - 2 nights was just too short! Had to buy an extra suitcase to carry back all our shopping!

Adrian, Babs, Kyle, Roxy, UK: Kruger, Swaziland, Zululand, Durban –
- The first location, at the Lodge was superb. Our game ranger, "Chris" was just so informative and I know Kyle and Roxanne enjoyed his expertise and humour. 2 truly memorable days, I think Babs enjoyed the elephants trunk rapped around her leg only minutes after we arrived. The views from the accommodation at Kruger, Hilltop, Kingfisher Lodge were breath taking. Finally we arrived in Umhlanga to be greeted once again by outstanding accommodation. The apartment was well above my expectations.

Dave & Linda, USA : Tshukudu, Chitwa –
- The two reserves were quite different, but both excellent. At Tshukudu, we got to take a morning drive with Savanah, and then some morning walks with lion and leopard cubs. At Chitwa Chitwa, we had some incredibly good drives and the lack of fences gave us a feel the vastness of the region.

Megan & Charlie, Saudia Arabia : Vic, Sabi, Zululand, Durban, Garden Route, Cape Town -
The holiday was truly splendid - we just couldn't believe what a fabulous time we had. Everything went like clockwork - even our only hitch (the hiccough in Vic.Falls) ended with my getting a free chopper ride!

James, Ireland : Tshukudu, Garden route, Cape Town
Thanks for your help, all went well. The drive from JNB was long but the Lodge was worth it. We really did the safari for our youngest son & he loved it. Mark who is 15 also loved it and I have to say both Valerie & myself thoroughly enjoyed it.

Akkie, London: Cape Town, Garden Route, Phinda -
- We enjoyed everything so much and I'm truly struggling not to think about South Africa all the time. I loved it and feel a little "homesick" to our time there. Many thanks for your help in organising this fantastic trip. Great shame we didn't get to meet you in person.Dana, USA: Botswana, Vic Falls, - It was truly the trip of a lifetime! The game viewing was magnificent as we saw herds of elephant with lots of babies, herds of buffalo, a lion family eating some poor farmers cows in Chobe, a young leopard in Moremi who sat beside our vehicle for 20 minutes posing for our cameras, sunsets to dream by, birds to awe over and so much more.

Pierre & Titia, Belgium: JNB, Kruger, Zululand, Wild Coast, Garden Route, CT –
- It was very nice for us to have met the both of you; it was a bit strange to only have had contacts through e-mail up till then. We loved the entire trip. We could easily have spent some more time in your beautiful country. In all, it really was great and it was also very much thanks to you.

Margot, Belgium: Drakensberg, Zululand –
- Montusi is beautiful and peaceful ant it has great views. The self-catering accommodation with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms is really very good. Sibaya Lake Lodge has a gorgeous setting and a very friendly service - as a whole very authentic and a great place to stay. Falaza Game Park is much more luxurious. It has beautiful tents and very nice food. Thank you for your professional assistance.

Rob & Anne, USA: Drakensberg. –
- Cleopatras Farmhouse - The clear, clear highlight of the trip. Wonderful, wonderful food. Great company. Great surroundings. Also a fire in our room every night. I would recommend Cleos to anyone who likes beautiful surroundings and wonderful food. Can I think of anything wrong? There was simply too much food. Even the breakfasts were the best I have ever had.
2003

Pat & Alan L, UK – Drakensberg, Durban, Zululand, Kruger safari:
The accommodation was great throughout - especially the welcome and friendly atmosphere and meals at Benoni which set the scene for the rest of the holiday. The mountains came first with a special bonus for us , which was a wonderful sighting of a bearded vulture in the morning ….. . We had excellent views of all the " Big Five " and some exciting drives …. Again many thanks, we will certainly recommend African Bundu Safaris to anyone requiring help in planning and experiencing an interesting and carefree holiday in South Africa.

Susana B, Spain – Botswana:
We spent only one night, but we had a nice stay and an excellent Xmas supper at Tautona.

Maryann & Patrick C, Saudi Arabia - Madikwe & Cape Town :
We loved Madikwe and saw the big seven (except the wily leopard) in the first two game drives…even saw an African Wild Dog pack of 21 on a kill of a warthog. Cape Town is absolutely great… The peninsula tour was very fun and that was the day we had the picnic….. The food was terrific! We loved the location and checked out the other hotels in the area, liking V&A the best!

Punchalli K , USA – Kruger Park :
Both of us had a wonderful time at Kruger … The food there is HORRIBLE…especially the restaurant that serves the buffet. We loved the hut we stayed in and our experience was great. We saw almost all the animals except the Cheetah and the Leopard. Can’t wait to come back to South Africa.

Richard & Brenda B , USA – Cape Town , Pvt Game lodge, Mauritius & Seychelles :
We had a fantastic time in South Africa . What a beautiful country you

John T & Reiji T, Cape Town: Kruger Private Lodge –
I'd recommend Tshukudu to people who only have a few days but who want to see all of the big five (plus a surprisingly large quantity of birds). The plane flight in and out of Hoedspruit was so easy; I didn’t even feel like I had travelled. Thanks for arranging the trip.

Paul & Ian G & Steven B, UK: Kruger Camping Safari –
From the first point of contact with Bundu we found you extremely helpful and very efficient in your responses. In all we had a great time. Keep up the good work!

Mark & Marlene L, Canada: Cape Town, Garden Route, Phinda –
self- drive - On our first night we were quite fortunate to see a female leopard in a tree, trying to get away from her admiring male leopard that was busy munching away on the kill he had stolen from her. We saw all the big 5, and we also saw cheetah right outside the lodge. The staff, the lodges and the game drives were all outstanding.

Damien L, France: Kruger Camping Safari –
Everything went perfectly during the Safari and Jackie was a great Guide. She was very attentive to our needs and spotted animals perfectly! We were lucky enough to see the Big Five.

Michael T, USA: Cape Town –
Had a great time. Table Bay hotel was great and I would feel very comfortable recommending it to others, very safe and central. I hope to visit Cape Town soon since there was much I didn’t see.

Steve & Yuri M, USA: Zambia, Botswana –
We saw a leopard kill an impala, only to have that kill stolen by a lioness, who chased the leopard into a nearby tree. She was quickly joined by 2 other lionesses, only to have what remained of the impala taken by the male lion. Wow!! We found your services exceptionally and reliable. We look forward to working with you again in a future trip to Zambia.

David B, USA: Cape Town –
Trip worked great, weather was fine, and I ran well. Thanks for your help.

Jamie E & Donald S, USA: Malawi, Zambia, Victoria Falls –
Kafunta River Lodge was beautiful. We can’t wait to go back to Africa!! Hopefully the year after next. We'll have you book a tour to Namibia with two or four of our friends. Thanks for everything. You are wonderful!

Oscar & Caroline W, UK: Drakensberg, Cape Town –
Cleopatra’s was out of this world and the perfect start to our honeymoon so relaxed and welcoming - the setting, ambience and friendliness enabled us to go straight to `chill mode'. What stunning views, the peace and quiet and feeling of freedom - so good for the soul.

Ray & Wilma J, USA: Kruger Wilderness Camping –
My wife and I had a great time and enjoyed the Safari you booked for us. The experience in the bush was more than what we expected. We saw all the big five in that 3 nights and 4 days experience.

Danie C, JHB, SA: Sabi Sands –
We had a fantastic weekend with great leopard and lion sightings! The camp personnel and game ranger went out of their way to make us feel at home and making sure we enjoy every moment.

Nik & Angie Barrat, UK: Durban, Hluhluwe/ Umfolosi, Swaziland, Kruger, Zululand –
self-drive - Well, this is now the fourth time I have given you feedback after organising a holiday to Africa for me. Your ability to understand what people want to see and do and where they can find it and still keep the cost of it within budget is second to none. We are already thinking about where in Africa we want you to organise for us in 2005, 2007 and 2009. Once again, thanks guys, you really are the best Africa has to offer.

Richard G, USA: Game Reserve, Garden Route to Cape Town
– self-drive - It all went very well thanks to you both. We did a day in town, one wineing, and one beaching in Cape. Given our limited time we could not ask for more.

Jan S, Sweden: Durban , Zululand, Wildlife Reserve
- The arrangements you made for us in Durban were all perfect, from the meeting point at the airport and back again. We managed to see all big five. So, in total, everything was just fine and I can calmly recommend people back home to contact you if they need help with their stays.

Anita & David T, USA: Cape Town, Private Kruger Lodges
- Thank you, thank you, thank you. We had such a wonderful time. All the details of the trip went so smoothly it was almost scary. Your country is beautiful.

Tina & Joe T, USA,: Johannesburg, Drakensberg, Zululand, Kruger
- Camping with hyenas and/or lions prowling outside the fence during braais was a new experience. Hearing little snorts from the zebras at night was cool; and baboons fighting around camp; Nyala peeking through the bushes at night with their green eyes; backing down the road from an elephant patrolling the road; seeing a leaping bush baby; it was all very cool.

Andre Z & family, Madagascar: Private Kruger Lodge, Cape Town
- Our Ranger was just amazing. He had a very impressive knowledge of the bushes and the wild animals, he was always ready to share it with us, a lot of passion too for his job, very devoted and extremely interesting to listen. We won't hesitate to recommend your name to friends who would like to visit beautiful South Africa.

David & Jane H, UK: Cape Town, Kalahari, Fish River Canyon, Cederberg
– self drive & guided - It was a wonderful holiday, I'd like to tell other people about it.

Mona , Kuwait : Kruger, Cape Town
- Everything from the drive from JNB, which was absolutely gorgeous, to the last day when we finally got to see lions, perhaps the highlight of the whole trip! The package you booked for us was perfect...We still talk about the time spent there in the tents and jungle sounds coming in at night.

Farrukh, Kuwait : Kruger, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Sun City
- - I am sure people love South Africa for different reasons but I loved it for everything around me. After two weeks in SA I realized that SA has much more to offer than big five. The time at Kruger National Park is one of the most memorable times of my life; the enormity of life is incredible.

Elsje & Paul A, UK : Simunye, Ithala, Tembe, Swaziland, Lower Sabie, Tshukudu
- I was taken by the hand by Mrs Chief and asked to sit on an Impala skin where I was presented with a beaded necklace. Happy b'day sung in Zulu and in English - and then more dancing. I too had to partake which was a laugh!! I had a great 50th!! And certainly one to be remembered!!

Nicola D, UK : Vic Falls, Chobe
- I am now totally in love with SA. I am now telling all my friends to holiday in SA, if any of them decide to go I shall definitely refer them to you. Thank you so much for sorting out a trip of a lifetime, everything was sorted for us, no hitches, drivers turned up when expected etc.

Cliff S, UK : Johannesburg, Drakensberg Mountains, Durban
- The drive to the Kamberg was great and we did the walk up to the cave paintings which again was very good. So all in all a good time was had. Cleo's was simply brilliant so thanks for suggesting that place to us. If I'm doing SA again I'll be in touch and of course I'll recommend you to anyone else who I know who's coming out.

Rob A, England: Durban, Sodwana Bay.
- My week in South Africa was fantastic and your company must take a lot of credit for that with the advice you gave me and the organisation of everything. A lot of English companies could learn from the standards you have set in terms of customer service.

Heather & Graham C, Durban : Umfolozi.
- We had seen 3x Big 5 before getting to the Picnic site! Lion came the next day on the sandbank just down stream of us, and for those lucky enough, a leopard at very close quarters whilst on foot!! There were just wall-to-wall animals of most varieties coming down to the river all through the day!

Arah S & Friends, USA : Botswana, Tshukdu, Pezulu.
- We had an excellent time, and were very happy with the choices that we made. We loved both of the lodges, and I think I wound up preferring Pom Pom. Everything in both places was impeccable - the staff, the accomodations, the drives, etc.

Sam du P, Johannesburg : Mkuze Falls, Kosi Lodge. HONEYMOON
- - Dean, thank you for organizing a great trip. I'll admit that I was a bit apprehensive, given that you do not appear to be a large operator, but you delivered everything and more. My thanks. I will gladly refer, and book again (if I have the money).

Hans & Barbara S, Durban : Namibia, Botswana.
- To start with, the trip was wonderful, we were all very impressed by the varying beauty and scenery of Namibia and your itinerary could not be faulted. The southern half of Namibia was certainly the most aw-inspiring, the fast open spaces, the empty roads, and the magnificent lodges, were very special.

Mohamed A, USA: JNB, Kruger, Sun City
- - All accommodations were booked accordingly and coincided with the world cup cricket. It was real fun and I would recommend all my friends and relatives in the U.S to book through Dean ABS.

Pat & Jim P, USA: JNB, Kruger, Limpopo, Garden Route, Cape Town- self-drive.
- Ah! Cliff Lodge! What a delightful place. Gill and Gideon are dears, the north room exquisite and the view unparalled. Jim went whale watching on a tossing boat while I watched the beautiful creatures from our window. The cliffs were lovely to walk on. And I can strongly recommend Gill's aromatherapy massage. Fantastic!!

Tony N, UK: Kruger Park day trip
I thought initially that it was probably a little expensive but had we driven ourselves I think we would have given up earlier and not seen half the game we did see. Also very helpful was Henk's knowledge of all the game, large and small; he was very informative about the birds, toads, frogs etc as well as the big game. All in all I was pleased with the way the day went and I would certainly consider doing the same thing again.

Stephane T, Madagascar: Cape Town and Winelands - selfdrive.
- South Africa, Capetown & the wine route were so great that I'm looking forward to come and settle in your country!! For Franschoek, you must advise to other tourists to go to La Petite Ferme, to eat and to try their own Chardonnay (they only produce 2000 bottles per year, you MUST try one!) it is worth the route!

John & Marjorie R, USA: Durban, Drakensberg and Johannesburg - Guided:
- The advance preparation by Shiney was above and beyond. Montusi Mountain Lodge was great, so was Beckley House. We will work on our son and his partner to visit S. Africa soon. We will recommend you (and Shiney) as guides for the KZN area.

Robert & Danielle T, Madagascar: Cape Town, Garden Route, Private lodges near Kruger- selfdrive:
- Effectively we enjoyed this wonderful holiday in South Africa. Thanks for all your help and very good organisation. It's not so easy for you to choose what is the best when you don't no what kind of people your client's are and what they suppose to like or not.

Nadine & Leo G, Europe: Sabi Sabi, Vic Falls, Cape Town
- - It was absolutely fantastic, and we will come back for sure! Once we have sorted the 1000+ pictures, we will send you some samples. Thanks for everything!

Sylvie & Ian B, Montreal: Kruger, Kosi, St lucia, Drakensberg, Durban, Garden Route, Cape Town - self-drive -
What an amazing trip this was. Everything we were hoping for and more! Thank you so much once again Dean, for pointing us so often exactly in the direction we wanted. I am so glad we got to meet at the airport. I feel that we have made a friend forever.

Jim & Judith A, UK: Zimbabwe - Elephant safari at Vic Falls, Mana Pools, Mozambique island retreat!
Chikwenya - A beautiful lodge, the panoramic view of the river bed and beyond - magic, especially when a wild elephant brushed past our balcony not 4 feet from where I was standing. Tam & Sash did two private dinner parties for us, the full Monty, candles, wine etc complete with 3 lions in the background. It couldn't happen without someone like you.

Christian & Steffen, Denmark – Cape Town, Vic Falls, Botswana, Namibia safari & self-drive.
Our trip was very enjoyable, the only snatch being the airplane tickets we should pick up at Maun airport, but we got them after phoning you. Namibia was very warm and sunny, but there weren't many people there. Neither tourists nor locals.

Peter, Carole, Paul & Carole, USA & UK – Cape Town, Durban, Kruger, JNB self-drive.
The trip was wonderful and it was a great joy to see the changes -- all for the better. Carole's brother and sister-in law also enjoyed the visit and were amazed at the scenery and the friendly people. I met with some relatives and school friends and it was like I had never been away. On the lodgings, they all turned out fine. …. Very friendly staff and also very helpful. … in Franschhoek - Excellent and the hostess was charming. …. The game drives were very good and our guide who was new took extra care of us. We also had a night drive and an early morning drive. This meant we left later than I had planned. … in Kruger park - super lodgings and very good game drive. As you pointed out, food was marginal. Our stay near Ohrigstad was absolutely superb. Wonderful hospitality and gracious entertaining. So that was our trip in a nut shell. Thank you for the recommendations. I would like to have spent more time in Cape Town and if it is possible in the future, I would like to go back again. The flying part is quite hard as you get older.

Kelly & Geoff, New Zealand – Honeymoon, Sun City, Kruger, Durban, Botswana, Vic Falls.
Just a quick note to say we arrived home safely and the remainder of our trip was fabulous, we will write to you again with a bit more feedback etc when we have a quiet moment - before Christmas, promise. By the way while on safari we saw 6 leopards in 4 days, a male and female were in a tree together which was quite a sight!!!! We also saw a baby hippo, perhaps a day old - awesome!!!!

Richard & Martin, UK – Private lodges at Kruger
We had an absolutely amazing and memorable holiday. The lodges that you arranged for us were fantastic. All the people we met were extremely friendly and the rangers were phenomenal. The game drives were exhilarating, well worth being woken in the early hours of the morning. Never before did I imagine that I would be able to stroke a cheetah, walk with a lion cub or follow wild dogs through the bush at twilight at around 40kph. The pictures are remarkable as we were a matter of feet away from these beautiful creatures. The microlight flight was a highlight. I wish I had one, my commute to work would be straightforward! All the transfers you arranged went like clockwork, and the views from the small prop planes were stunning. I have recommended African Bundu Safaris to a number of people over here. Thanks again for all your hard work. We had a truly memorable holiday.

Arne, Elly, Dick and Marlies, Netherlands – South Africa self-drive
Elephants sanctuary was a good experience … About the Bushcamp in Madikwe, it was a great experience … we had a great supper at the Big Fig Tree, a very nice Restaurant with a great hospitality…. to thank you again from the deepest of our heart for all your trouble and worries…

Jan, Sweden – Durban conference
Just got home after one week in CT after Durban. All functioned very well, thank you!

Hanne and Pierre, Denmark – Hluhluwe Safari
The visit to Durban and the safari tour has been an extremely good experience. Shiney was an excellent Guide, you have the feeling she knows everything that is worth to know about animals, South Africa people and their history etc. We learned so much even though it was a short tour. We had the luck to see a lot of animals and most of them very close. …. This has really been on of the greatest holiday experiences in my life…. It has been a pleasure to have you arrange this tour for us. Everything worked so well from our first enquiry to the last minute in the airport, thanks a lot. You will be sure be recommended to people I meet that will visit South Africa.

Louise, Stuart and Joe, UK – Hluhluwe Safari
We had a great time both with our folks and our Guide, Shiney, during our trip to SA. We will send you some more descriptive feedback as soon as we have time.

Yvette and Matt, UK – 4-day Kruger safari & Vic Falls
We had a great night at the restaurant in Vic Falls and our first experience of game food and traditional African Dancing. Such a fantastic atmosphere. We also had a fantastic time on our 4-day Kruger safari. We were particularly fortunate to get Wilhelm as our Guide. Knowledgeable, down to earth and good company – it really was a pleasure to spend time with him. The food was yummy, plentiful and healthy. I have already recommended your company, African Bundu Safaris, to others heading to Southern Africa.

Braam and friends, Durban – Botswana self-drive
We are home safe and sound. The Camp was rough, but all you needed was there. The site is very sandy and the entrance roads and the roads in the camp is thick sand – 4x4 is essential!! My friend even got stuck with his 4x4. … Saw some game, even elephant at a waterhole in the river. Drotsky’s is 5 star. The campsites and ablutions are spotlessly clean. Sites are lovely shady and on the bank of the Okavango. Electric light and power point at each site. People very friendly and helpful. All bookings were in order. Thanks for your help.

Iris, Phil plus children, USA – JNB, Private Kruger, Swaziland, Zululand, Durban, Berg.
Dean -- the trip was fantastic! It was truly the trip of a lifetime. My kids will remember this forever, and we will, too. We had a chance to see wildlife up close that one can only dream about. It was unbelievable. Keith was a wonderful guide; he told us all about South Africa, he answered our questions and held our hands when necessary. We can't thank him enough. ……. The wildlife viewing was just incredible -- among the best on our trip -- and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. We especially liked the tracker, Isaac, who made a nature walk informative and fun. … The mountains, the wildlife and the guides were all amazing. We took the early morning walk with Andrew and William, and climbed mountains, walked among wildlife, and had an experience of a lifetime. … We're telling everyone about our trip, and don't fear -- we'll highly recommend African Bundu Safaris -- you guys handled everything for us, from our sabbath needs to our food concerns. What a wonderful trip. I did nothing -- except enjoy nearly every moment. Thank you again for a trip of a lifetime.

Mark and Marlene, Canada – Botswana & Zambia Vic Falls.
We had an incredible time – we love Southern Africa !! Everything went very smoothly thanks to all your hard work. All three safari lodges we stayed at in Botswana exceeded our expectations. We were thoroughly spoiled! We saw some amazing wildlife and something I’ve always wanted to see – Wild Dog – at the last lodge in Savuti. …. Because the trip was planned so last minute, I had to pinch myself everyday because I couldn’t believe we were there. Thanks again for everything. We really appreciate everything you’ve done for us.

Dan, Rebecca, Andy & Jane, New Zealand & UK – 4-day Kruger camping.
Look the trip was amazing. Guide was fantastic and a great chef and the mixture of the park and the lodge was great. With so many other 4 day trips it’s hard to know when you are booking who to choose, but we are really happy with our choice. Cheers. Thanks for a great trip.

Well, let me just tell you that Oddballs comes with my fondest recommendation! The six nights/seven days there were the absolute best. The staff was friendly and so helpful with any need. I was assigned a guide named GB who has been guiding there for over twenty years. He knew the bush like it was his backyard….. Thank you so much for the recommendation. Once again, you ensured my time in Africa was well spent! Thank you so much Dean. The trip was exactly what I needed!!

As you heard from Shiney we had a wonderful time. We saw things that we never expected to see. Shiney was a great tour guide and was well versed in all kinds of interesting information. Dean you put together a memorable trip for us and I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone wanting to visit South Africa .

How can I forget the beauty I saw everywhere in your gorgeous country? The Kalahari was unbelievable, not at all the desert I expected. Shrubs, trees, flowers, splendid dunes and so many animals all over. I was in heaven… . We did walk to the lighthouse for an Italian restaurant and that was excellent. Especially after watching the sun set on the beach the wine taste even better! All your reservations were PERFECT, everything you did for us was excellent. We were both so happy and I thank you so much, for everything.

Wende and Janice B, USA – Cape Town to PE, Safari through KZN to Kruger & VicFalls:
Thank you so much for coordinating the itinerary I desired. For a first time trip to South Africa , we wouldn't change any of it. I wanted variety in experience, location, etc... and that was definitely delivered…. I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Dave. I truly enjoyed his company. He has a lot of knowledge and was a true gentleman. Victoria Falls was truly breathtaking! Thanks for putting up with all my questions throughout the trip planning process! It was greatly appreciated!

Nick, Helen & Abi W, UK – Zululand flight:

Dylan, Sandy & Jay P, USA – Botswana, PE to Cape Town:
The trip was just amazing. As far as accommodation...I can't name a favorite, each place we went to we said was our favorite and it couldn't get any better, but it did….. The walk with the bushman was one of the highlights of the trip for me…. We had an amazing experience one night with a pride of 19 lion and a herd of Impala…. I think our boat outing was a highlight for Jay, he loved it! Thank you for a job well done.

Jim & Judith A, UK – Zambia Luangwa, Lake Malawi, Botswana, Upper Zambezi River:
A good stock of animals (no rhino or wildebeest) but magnificent sightings of wild dog (a big plus) we had them right at the side of us and saw them orchestrating a kill. Our guide was very capable and knowledgeable…. Campfire, steak, blankets laid out under the stars and a good bottle of red - magic!!!! They looked after us royally, their food superb….. so we concentrated on hunt the lion which turned out to be quite a marathon of off-roading. But very rewarding when we witnessed roaring from three lions, not a yard from our vehicle. So impressive, you could even feel your body vibrating to the sound….. Gavin and Penny were such generous, lovely people and their food - absolutely gorgeous. Gavin decided on a barbecue lunch so the pontoon was loaded and after our fishing we landed on one of his islands and it was all set up for us. We had a lovely family lunch, the kiddies had a swimming pool made for them by diverting the Zambezi and we played cards…..

Colin and Auriel C, UK – Flight to Zululand :

Mike S (Botswana) - Zanzibar
Many thanks enjoyed the holiday. Great view from the restaurant with a great sunset..

Jan Carlo M (Switzerland) - South Africa
I can describe my experience in one word OUTSTANDING. I have never done something like that before and it was fantastic. During my stay the lodges, I got to see the "BIG 5" and Cheetah and one lodge and at the other a Leopard and its cub eating it's prey on a tree in just one game tree.. most successful drive to date. I am certainly coming back for more. The rangers were incredibly knowledgeable and good at what they were doing. Their function was not only to help guests to see wildlife but acted as hosts throughout my stay. .Great as you end up sharing the experience with others, makes sundowners great fun. The setting at . is best described as closer to the bush but still a luxurious approach. The . is more upscale, but outstanding accommodation. Beautiful setting almost surrealistic and last but not least the little plane from Jo'burg to the airstrip is THE way to arrive at safari. So thank you Dean for an outstanding service the whole way through. It was indeed a fantastic trip. I will contact you the next time I return to South Africa, with my wife.

Debbie - (SA) - Chobe, Botswana
Thanks we had a fantastic holiday.we'd definitely stay there again, the setting is fantastic, and we saw lots of birds in the gardens, but the MOST Incredible highlight of our trip (and almost our lives) was the afternoon / evening sunset trip down the river. WOW! Dean you should have seen how close we got to the animals and birds.we took literally hundreds of pictures (long live digital) and we've got some beauties..

Sandy B (SA) - Honeymoon, Botswana
Thanks to you're excellent organising skills everything went very smoothly.was awesome, the hosts are wonderful people. They made us so welcome. It's a beautiful green oasis of a place, in the middle of all the dry bush around. Fishing trips were great fun and we caught a huge barbell and tiger fish which was good fun.saw lots of birds and of course the main reason - beautiful magnificent Fish Eagles, hearing their calls in the wild is a truly beautiful experience.the tents were quite spectacular with beautiful views and most of them under the shade once again thanks so much for organising things so efficiently - will definitely be using your services again.

Roland B (SA) - Honeymoon, Botswana

First of all many thanks for all the bookings you did.provides tantalising views of a fountain / pond with wonderful bird life in one direction. one can watch spectacular sunsets from a splendid rocky viewpoint.served by waiters with a bit of song and dance. We very much liked the head lady of the resort, who was both very pleasant and gave us a really good time. . has a panoramic view out over the plain, with very luxurious rooms down below.all interiors are very tasteful, decorated in what I can only describe as "African minimalist" style. The real highlight for all of us a game drive from Dora Nawas. Our guide who had an excellent knowledge of flora and fauna and who was able to locate and show us a small herd of desert elephants.

Mark & Jill M (USA) - South Africa, Kruger Park
In short we could not have had a better vacation and yes a great deal. The dolphin trail was one of the high points of the trip, lodging all 3 nights was excellent.food and service was great. At Delvera farm was a pleasant surprise. Farm/vineyard environment is great and hiking bike trails were a treat.was very nice good food. Our field guide was excellent.I really liked doing both the park for the superior environment and the private lodge for the nice lodging.. the trip was great thanks to you in many ways. Please feel free to use us as a reference especially for any of your US customers. We had an amazing flawless trip! The only thing we'd do differently is stay much longer. Leonard S (SA) -

Home safe and finally getting acclimated to our time. Overall, fabulous trip. My mates at work were so impressed with your personalised itinerary. Great work. was fantastic. What a breath of fresh air after the trip. Loved the setting but most of very welcomed by Marina and William in Johannesburg. Next time you contact them, send our regards .was excellent Vic Falls. but nonetheless breathtaking. The boat cruises were relaxing. The elephant safari was magnificent. During the encounter a 10-month-old baby elephant was playing with me and knocked me down on my .it was all good fun. Chris was an excellent guide and tracker. .Moremi was excellent for lions. .Train was definitely Jo's highlight. Great accommodations food and service. Game drives in Etosha were excellent.Walvis Bay trip was excellent, saw dolphins, but the seals stole the show. The setting for . is indescribable. About the lodge, I found it simple but very well constructed. The accommodation…with a lot of privacy…open over a permanent lagoon with hippos. The lodge personnel were very helpful and the main guide was knowledgeable of animals and environment…overall the feedback is positive…what I liked the most has been the excursion on the mokoro with the walk on the islands of the lagoon. Thanks for you help for now.

First of all, the restaurant, bar, food and prices are excellent and we will recommend this to all…Meru tents are also very basic…as far as the location, quiet and peaceful bushcamp with enough game to see, the clear starry skies at night was worth…

Nik & Angela (UK) – South Africa, Namibia, Botswana: selfdrive. 5th trip organised by African Bundu Safaris
So what do we say the fifth time? The fact that we have booked everything through Dean rather than book it ourselves after all the times we have been to Southern Africa says it all. This time it was a twelve week stint, organised at last minute, with a much tighter budget than ever before! Everything was yet again organised to perfection, the car hire, driving directions, accommodation, activities, the self-catering cool-box and utensils! Four countries, eighty-three nights, 13,516 kilometres, of which 3,789 kilometres were on gravel roads and not a single puncture! Although I take credit for that bit, along with a little help from Mother Nature! Nothing was too much trouble for Dean, if we needed help, or wanted to change anything the communication was quick, clear and always friendly! The best personal service that can be found in Africa! Thanks mate.

Shelley M (Switzerland) - Namibia, South Africa: Kruger Safari
…I loved the tented camp you booked for us. I would have liked to stay an extra night there…it was our first visit to that park…even though we liked it… We will be visiting Namibia again it 2 years time … we visited Namibia before we went to the Kgalagadi Park … Many thanks for your help.

Bob K.R (SA) – South Africa: Kruger
The trip went off very well indeed. The staffs at KNP are always helpful and pleasant. The accommodation was clean and perfectly adequate with lots of hot water and well-equipped kitchens … we saw fabulous elephants, kudu, waterbuck and even saw a serval. It was however, good quality family time in the bush. Thank you for organising it for us.

…Thank you for superb trip, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute, however I am now struggling to lose half a stone in weight, mostly due to Cleopatra’s, what a superb place, we loved the Drakensberg Mountains…were very impressed with CL, they went the extra mile to make you feel at home, and to make sure you made the most of the area, wonderful view of the whales. … Enjoyed being able to walk into town in Knysna. Marina at BH was delightful, definitely an experience not to be missed…just wonderful, what an experience, Andrew our ranger looked after us magnificently and the animals were amazing. We were very happy with all the accommodation and loved South Africa. If I had to choose favourites it would be…, however it was all quite wonderful…well thank you so much once again, we would not hesitate to use your services again, to explore more of South Africa, may be Namibia…

All in all, our trip was outstanding – from Cape Town to Victoria Falls…were wonderful days and our accommodations were perfect…was an adventure in its self. Songwe was another adventure and very educational. We loved it. BH was the best of all worlds – so relaxing, wonderful food and great staff…and Madam, as I always called her, was to good to be true. What a fun lady. Next time it’s Chobe and where we know the lions are. Thanks for your planning and we appreciate all you did for us. Best wishes.

…All places you booked were superb but the most special was Cliff Lodge – fabulous room with ocean view, and fabulous hosts in Gideon and Gillian. We can definitely say we fell in love with South Africa – at least the Western Cape we saw and hope to return in the not too distant future…was also great with wonderful guides and staff and enough wildlife to keep us happy…in the future were I to repeat this trip is fly in to the Sabi Sands or any adjacent area…overall the trip was excellent and far exceeded already high expectations…Vic Falls is pretty spectacular…we did see great game in Hwange…again, thanks for your efforts and for putting up with us.

Andy W (UK) SA, Kruger National Park, Namibia
Getting close to a cheetah and a lion was special as I have always loved big cats since I was a child…Your recommendations was a good one and we appreciate the time, effort and personal attention you took to make this trip happen. We will certainly recommend your services to others and will be back in touch if we can ever manage to organise a longer trip, which we would very much like to…many thanks again for your help.

Doug & Naomi S (Japan) SA, Sabi Sabi, Cape Town
African Bundu Safaris – fast, responsive and right on target. We will definitely use you and recommend you again. MalaMala saw wild dog, leopard, and cheetah before a beautiful sunset. Nice accommodations and service…more focused on a philosophy and being one with nature…however, a walk with our very knowledgeable guide and being at the scene of a leopard kill shortly after the fact dispelled any doubts. The Spa experience was very good. Cape Town – very good one day tour.

Natalie & Eddie B (USA) SA, Kosi bay, Madikwe Game Reserve, St Lucia
…we had a great time, South Africa was an absolutely beautiful country. Thank You for your help in planning the trip…the recommendations were right on key…The snorkelling in Kosi Bay was great, like a big fish tank. …the park systems has some 10 chalets that were really nice overlooks the ocean. The guesthouse was perfect, I think you weren’t familiar with it but it was absolutely fabulous, great hospitality and an even better breakfast. Two really good restaurants of walking distance. Thanks for the advice…It was nice to see people were genuinely concerned and took a minute to stop, we don’t do that here we just hope for the best. The highlight of the trip was definitely chalet at … as it directly overlooked the river, it was a surreal site every morning to look down at the river and see all the animals. Backpacking at Umfolozi was a great time, the group we hiked with was a real pleasure, well organised and set-up camp…Good fun, thanks Dean for your help in a great vacation, it was a big help to have contact there when we arrived and the advice was spot on. Thanks again…

David R (SA) Zululand – (frequent clients)

Loved the canoe trip on the river on our last morning. So thanks for it all and we will return to bug you. Hope you have a really good year.

Thanks Dean, we had a fantastic time, could have done with another night and would do it again.

John & Kitty (USA) - Botswana (5th trip with African Bundu Safaris)
We are now back in California unfortunately; South Africa is always so wonderful, we hate to leave. We loved our trip, as always. We have come to expect and get such great service from you! The plans were flawless and everything went without hitch. It amazes me that you are able to accommodate us with only a few weeks notice. Thanks again, as always, for a wonderfully arranged trip. Megan, Gavin, John and I had an incredible time in the Okavango. The arrangements were flawless, and both camps were delightful. We really enjoyed seeing the 2 different camps and decor. Animal sightings were good at both; no leopard or cheetahs, but lots of lions including cubs cavorting about. Beautiful birds and knowledgeable guides! A terrific combination! We love the isolation of camps in Botswana; although there are over 75 camps in the Delta, we never saw another and really felt we were alone in the bush! Both camps offered walks and mokoro boats, which we enjoyed also. We've been to the Okavanga Delta a number of times before (as you know) and each trip has been wonderful. This time I was struck by the vast amounts of water in this area. We drove endlessly through the water, and the peace and quiet and views at sunset were remarkable! A different experience. Looking forward to our next trip. Kitty & John

Graham & Heather C (Durban) - Mpila Camp, Imfolosi Reserve (Repeat clients)
Tents were OK at Mpila except that they are VERY poorly equipped with no container to cook anything in the oven at all, other than a roasting pan - not much good for casseroles!!
Amused to see they now have the fridges wired to the walls and LARGE hasp/staples AND chain with clip like you have on a dog's lead on both fridge and deep freeze AND food cupboards to stop the monkeys getting in!!! We had a herd of bushpigs in the camp during supper one night! The first time ever that Graham has seen them!!

Jan & Jenny v S (Netherlands) - selfdrive Namibia, Botswana & Livingstone
Our trip was splendid. And all the accommodations were excellent with kindly people. Also the choose for visiting Zambia instead of Zimbabwe was a good one. Thanks for your advise for the visa to Zambia. Everything was ok. The only disglamour was one day delay before we arrived in Windhoek and also the luggage did not arrived in time. So next time it will be wise to plan an extra day before we take off our tour. In case you need a feedback to other people, you may contact us. Thanks a lot and all the best.

Sharon & Holger (UK) - Guided safari Tanzania
Just a few of the daily highlights that we cannot get over - in addition to the daily views of stunning stunning landscapes - we didn't set ourselves targets on what to see/ how many etc/ how far/ pictures etc and what we got in return surpassed anything we had imagined !!
..... Also treated on our second day to a very pretty lioness calling out and nursing her three-week old cubs just a few meters away from the front of our jeep away not far from Tree Tops ....
The animals and the landscapes were magical - I cannot do justice in words to the behaviour of all these beautiful animals and their surroundings we were lucky enough to observe every single day - from the inquisitive dwarf mongoose to the elephant families, not to mention the many many species of birds; we also had a beautiful cheetah and her two tiny playful cubs leaping around in front of the jeep on a golden morning in the Serengeti ......
We learned so much and we think our eyesight has improved too! (In other words, the whole trip was the best holiday we've ever had).
Dean, this trip was the epitome of very insightful planning throughout - we both think you read your customers very well. Thank you very much indeed, and work permitting, we do hope to keep be in touch again. We'll be more than happy to provide recommendations for you if needed.

Rona O'R & family (Ireland) - Chobe & Livingstone (Vic Falls in Zambia)
Many thanks for everything. We had an absolutely wonderful holiday. Botswana was really great and the Toro Lodge was very good.(
I was very brave and did the microlight flight as well. When I saw the falls I just had to!! You were right about the elephant safari, myself and Eibhlinn really loved it and the others had a ball whitewater rafting.
The whole holiday way exceeded our expectations and the wildlife was unbelievable! Many thanks for all your help, you made the whole holiday go very smoothly. We would most definatly love to go back to Africa and hopefully some day we may make it to South Africa and when we do I will definatly be on to you again.

Lorenz & Barbara I-P (Germany) - Etosha in Namibia, selfdrive
We are now back from our great and very interesting Namibia tour. Especially we enjoyed the Etosha Game Park. YOU made it possible that we could stay there for 3 nights. Thank you very very much!!!!The 3 camps have been totally restored and are now very beautiful. And we got all that for a moderate price! We think Namutoni is the best camp and Okaukuejo is almost so beautiful. Halali is also renovated, but the management, especially in the restaurant, was not good. Thank you very much again for the booking! All the best for you Barbara

Walter, Annelie R + children (USA in Ghana) - Namibia & Botswana
Thank you for putting together such a wonderful trip on such short notice. It was great and exceeded all our expectations. All arrangements and bookings worked like clockwork and all we had to do was show up and have a good time. Namibia accommodation was good. In Botswana, we had a great time too. Overall, we just have positive comments on our trip. Thanks again for your help. None of this would have been possible without your knowledge and advice. Will keep in touch for our trip to Serengeti next year. Also recommending your company without hesitation to friends and family.

Dedria & Alex C (USA) - Cape Winelands, MalaMala, Kings camp, Mkuze Falls
First, this was Alex’s and my 6th trip to southern Africa, and it was by far our best. The accommodations, arrangements, travel, food, game viewing—everything exceeded our expectations and our previous experiences (and our previous experiences were wonderful). So first off—heartfelt thanks. We are already talking about our next trip to Africa in perhaps two years—we really want to see Namibia.
The rooms were very attractive, but what made our stay special was the restaurant. We found the food superb and the service excellent. It gave us our first chance to sample some South African dishes (as well as Amarula) and the chef even came out and talked to us.
Mala Mala was fabulous. The game viewing (we saw the Big Five within 24 hours), the accommodations, the cuisine, the professionalism of the staff were all superb. We were very fortunate to have one ranger for just our party and even more fortunate that we promptly fell in love with him.
Again, we saw not only the Big Five, but an array of other animals. There is a very imaginative chef at Kings Camp and the lunches, in particular, are quite sophisticated for a game camp. We’d like to return to Kings Camp again, as well.
On to the Winelands. Le Quartier Francais was excellent. Wonderful location, nice rooms, and very friendly people. And on to transportation and arrangements—perfect! Every flight was smooth and left on time. We were especially impressed with the pilots of the small planes. Again, much thanks for a fabulous vacation.

when ever I have anyone going to Africa, I only have you in mind. I admire you for the personalized attention you give to each detail and you are always so prompt in answering mail, either mine of the clients. It is so nice to know I have a correspondent but most important a friend in South Africa. A great job once more Dean with Happy Clients. Best regards and bravo for having my clients so pleased. Will W - (UK) - Honeymoon, Kruger & Zululand
we had a great honeymoon thanks. In terms of feedback the flights were all very efficient and the flight from Skukuza down to Thonga Beach was an experience in itself – we would definitely recommend it (although perhaps not to those who have a fear of light aircraft!).
Thonga Beach lodge was idyllic and the staff and service were exceptional. ....... A final thank you for all your help with our honeymoon and we’ll be sure to recommend you to anyone we know thinking of taking a trip to Southern Africa.

Cynthia & Ronnie J (USA) - Botswana & Kruger photographic safari
We had a fantastic time! Thoroughly loved all those experiences. The photography in Chobe and Moremi was outstanding. I loved Lesedi Cultural Village--so much fun and great food. Our first DB&B was also fine---loved Marina. Our guide, B.K Saxago was the absolute BEST! We sent him some photos and a personal thanks. The only bad thing--we wish we were still there!

Weldon Lee (USA) - professional photographic workshop to Botswana, Johannesburg & Kruger
The Moyo Restaurant and Lesedi Cultural Village were fantastic. Well worth the visit. In Botswana, LeRoo La Tau was very nice with zebra and wildebeest constantly filling the dry riverbed immediately adjacent to the Lodge. Food and service were excellent. In addition, night games drives at the Lodge offered something new and were appreciated by my group. Our Guide Chris was phenomenal -- a great person and true gentleman. He is the best when it comes to locating wildlife. Eric also joined us for most of the trip. The food was outstanding.

Nikos & friend (Greece) - Namibia overland
I got back home 2 weeks ago and still try to adjust to every day routine! The places we visited were really fantastic, the itinerary was as good as it can be! We want to thank you for the suggestion you made to us to select this trip.

Glynis (JNB) - Cleopatras, Tembe & Mkuze Falls
Many thanks for your help and in particular your directions. We had a truly splendid 9 days and were truly "wowed" by our experiences.Cleopatra's - somewhat eclectic décor but food, wine and surroundings absolutely tremendous. Tembe - unpretentious, saw fantastic elephants, met up with the conservationist, great service. Mkuze Falls - stratospheric, can't say any more. Great service, magnificent food, wonderful accommodation and surroundings, saw anything and everything and our ranger was wonderful (only thing we could fault was their coffee)

Vic & Malanie H (JNB) - Botswana selfdrive
Thakadu camp offered everything that we wanted. An ideal stopover en route to the Okavango. The Game Platter that they did as a special was excellent as was the Eland wors that we took with us to Moremi.

Judy W (USA) - Namibia
Wow! What an experience to see Namibia. African Bundu Safaris does everything it promises and more. I have awesome photos, both from the hot air balloon and shuttle flights. Flawless and smooth transfers, reservations, communication. I couldn't ask for any more. Thanks so much.

Ann & Stefanie W (UK) - Namibia selfdrive
Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge - what more can you say - superb. Cape Cross Lodge - 2 days too much, possibly even 1 day too much. No problems with accommodation but absolutely nothing to do apart from walk up to the seals. Mowani Mountain Camp - we loved it here, probably the nearest to nature of all the places, beautifull setting and food. Halali - good accommodation, but would not book any meals in the future. As the roads which are salt + gravel were completely rutted and corrugated for 100 kms+ at a time and we were doing something like 30-40 kms an hour and that was good! The roads were appalling with the car sliding all over the place. If we did the same route again we would have a 4 x4, those cars were just racing past us. We had a great holiday and really enjoyed it, the people were lovely and couldnt do enough for you all with great big smiles and lots of laughs. The guides we had (when used) were knowledgeable and so enthusiastic in what they were doing it rubbed off on to you. Lovely. Thank you for those most helpful instructions which we used all of the time which made life much easier. Regards Ann

Steve & Leslie L (USA) - Guided South Africa, then Botswana
Let me begin by saying that this was probably the best trip we have ever taken. Months ago when we first began communicating you said that we would want to come back again. That once wouldn’t be enough. I reserved opinion. You were right. We definitely (health and other issues aside) will be back. Your organization was great and everything went off without a hitch. I will have no qualms about recommending you to friends coming to Africa and we certainly will be in contact to help arrange our next trip.
Khwai River was great. The best game drives of all three reserves. Our guide, Spencer, was a great tracker and had a tremendous knowledge of the animals. He was willing to constantly go off road in search of them. Jao was a totally different experience than Khwai. The Delta area was beautiful and peaceful and Jao is luxurious. The rooms are great, food sumptuous, and staff again can’t do enough for you. Unlike Khwai everyone dines together at one big table and that tends to bring people together. Staff, if not serving, including guides, join you and that’s really nice too. David in Cape Town is a hell of a nice guy. He did his job perfectly. He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and maybe best of all, unobtrusive. He guided without overdoing it. Sometimes guides can drive you crazy with the information they present to you. He was concise and not long winded. I truly appreciated that. You get all the credit for the Cliff Lodge in De Kelders. What a lovely little place. Right on the bay and our room was great. The drive to Addo was long but the Woodall Inn and Spa was also wonderful. Huge room and bathroom, again excellent food. Londolozi was very good. Physically it was the most luxurious of the three camps. The small plane rides between the camps went well. Take care and again A BIG THANK YOU. Steve

David H (USA) -Kruger & Botswana Overland Safari
Regarding the whole experience, it was a trip of a lifetime that brought me greater appreciation of mother nature. I am a city person so the trip took me outside my comfort zone and I'm proud to say that I roughed it and survived and enjoyed over 85% of it. It was wonderful and amazing to see all the wildlife and sleep in the bush or under the stars and be free from computers and cell phones. I'm sooo glad that Zach introduced you because 2 older Dutch couples (over 60 years old) that I travelled with seemed to have been deceived by their agent.
You are an absolute pleasure to work with. You are knowledgeable and your recommendations were spot on. From the research I've done and your advice, my expectations were properly set and I knew full well what I was getting myself into (camping for many nights). You were responsive and communicative even though you were 10 time zones away. I'm amazed that we were able to do pretty much everything on email! Appreciate your patience with my changes that prevented you from locking down my booking earlier. Kruger was "plush" - it had a lot more creature comforts (permanent tents, beds, and hot showers) and more relaxed since we didn't have reach a destination before darkness. The guide was young, passionate about wildlife and skilled. The Umhloti Lodge and the Chimp sanctuary was a nice touch. Again thanks for the great selection. Both trips were excellent value for the money.
I really enjoyed both tremendously and you will probably hear from me again in 2 years time as I'd like to do a safari in Kenya and Tanzania.

Alberto B (Italy) - Namibia & SA
Yes, we had a great time in Namibia and SA and we absolutely loved the Canon Lodge. I’ll definitely remember your address when arranging our next trip to your beautiful land! Kind regards Alberto

Dana Atkinson (USA) - regular client - Kruger Self-drive
Just wanted to let you know I had a great time on my recent trip! Kruger never disappoints and neither do you. All of the arrangements were perfect. I had two brief leopard sightings, five lion sightings including 5 young males on a giraffe kill and so many beautiful birds and elephants and all of those amazing African creatures.

Colleen F (JNB) - Botswana selfdrive
We did have a great time, thanks. I really didn't want to come back to work.

Hugh & Holly (USA) - flight transfers Zululand
Excellent flights, really nice pilots. Poor Holly was sick going but fine coming back. Thanks for your help. Regards.

Christiaan & Johanne B (SA) - Honeymoon self-drive Namibia
It was fab-fantastic! We enjoyed it so much, even the driving. Enjoyed all the activities in Swakop. Epako was outstanding and we're definitely going back... we told them we're coming back in 3 years time and then we'll be taking some friends along. The management were really friendly and the cuisine was unforgettable. We're still talking about it. The room was beautifully furnished and we got a small bottle of wine as a welcoming honeymoon gift. Thank you so much for an unforgettable & enjoyable honeymoon!

A very happy new year to you. Rather envious what I'm sure was a sunny Christmas Day. Appreciate your patience with my changes that prevented you from locking down my booking earlier. I had a great tour guide that made me feel totally safe - he is 6ft 7in and appeared capable of wrestling a lion :-). He had personality and made the trip fun. The first 4-5 days were a bit rough because I couldn't sleep due to the jetlag and the hard sleeping mat even though I had my own inflatable mat but I got used to it. I had enough to eat and the food was of good quality and taste given environment and price of the package. I really enjoyed both tremendously and you will probably hear from me again in 2 years time as I'd like to do a safari in Kenya and Tanzania.

Jacques B (JNB) – selfdrive Namibia
Got back yesterday and it was very nice, thanks for all yr planning and help. Your directions were perfect and helped a lot - this is a nice touch. Thakadu lodge - this was pleasant. Villa Ferdi - very nice place. Strand hotel – so-so. The location was good, but the hotel self is old and not so nice. (Dean - It has now been demolished and a brand new 5-star hotel is being built on this site.) Sossusvlei lodge, was perfect - nice setting, great variety of food. Very enjoyable trip and glad we did it.

Phinda was absolutely fabulous! We had an amazing time there, and got to see tons of game & all the cats up close & personal with top class accomodation & service. I think the only thing we would have done differently was spend one more night there. hank you for all your help, and will definitely contact you on our next trip back and send referrals.

Happy New Year and best wishes to you to. Thanks to you we enjoyed a wonderful trip. Your choices of route and of lodges were perfect and corresponded exactly to our wishes. The drive to Okahirondgo lodge was definitely worth it and as you know we even extended are stay by one day! Once again tks for your help you have done a great job.

Rodney & Gary D, families (JNB) – selfdrive Namibia
I was meaning to let you know and thank you; We had a great trip and all went well. In fact it was a fantastic trip and my wife (who is a photographer) absolutely fell in love with Etosha. We found it without a doubt the best NP we've been to as far as game viewing was concerned, the large open plains made a huge difference and because the place is so dry the animals really do come down to the water holes! We were also able to do some really good tough) 4x4ing around Twyfelfontein which is where I get my thrills. The main problem was eating too much! Thanks for your suggestions and organising, I appreciate what you did to make it a fantastic holiday

Karen R (JNB) – Vic Falls/Livingstone & Chobe, Botswana
Thanks for a great trip. The elephant safari was a blast man. We love Kubu lodge will definitely go back, I prefer it over Chobe Safari Lodge (to big). Will contact you again for out next trip in 2009. Thanks a million it was worth every penny.

Thanks again for your help in getting me to Little Kwara so quickly. My luggage was identified at the terminal once I flew back to Johannesburg. A little late but it was good to find the bag. Having been to Kwara and Chobe I would say an extra day in Kwara would have been better. It was good to see the elephants in Chobe but a day was fine since it was more difficult to see the bigger game there. At Songwe it was an eye opening experience. Two days was enough. It rained a lot and the activities in the area were effected. The water at the lodge was out as lighting had hit the generator. The staff were very friendly. All in all a great experience. (Travelled with Tony A)

I also want to complement Moremi Air ....great guys and good at keeping a schedule. This time of year I would have dropped Chobe all together and done another Okavango camp.

I want to thank you for the bookings you have made. Everything was well organised and we have enjoyed all the lodges. However, I did not stay at the guesthouse in Windhoek and was not in a position to cancel the booking in advance. I would be grateful if you could apologise to the owner on my behalf and I do not expect a refund at all! We would make use of your service again and may you have a prosperous New Year.

Richard M & Family (JNB) – selfdrive Namibia
Thanks for all you did for us. The accommodation you booked was excellent. Namibia is a fantastic place, the people are very friendly and service was great. The Strand hotel was great. We were told by the staff that they are going to demolish the place in March. The hotel was clean and well maintained and as standard in Namibia the service was excellent. Halali camp. Excellent. Apparently they had a major renovation last year. An enormous pool was enjoyed by all especially when the temp was 52 in the sun and 43 in the shade. At midnight it was still 35 degrees. Cape Cross. This was an experience. The dead seal pups were a bit upsetting and the fact that they still cull seals, Other than that the noise and smell are overpowering. Windhoek Hotel Safari, excellent hotel, clean organized and superb service and excellent food. A great time was had by all.

Tracey M & family (JNB – selfdrive Namibia
Just to say thank you for organizing us such a wonderful holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Halali, - they had a watering hole about 400 metres from the camp site, and at night you could site for hours watching the elephant and rhino's etc. truly amazing. Unfortunately, we always seemed to miss the lion at the watering hole, but did see a few under the trees. We went on a night drive the one evening and managed to see a leopard, which really did make it worthwhile. Torro Bay - Oh my gosh - what can I say.... After driving for ever in the desert, we finally arrived at Torro Bay early in the evening. Needless to say, we were horrified. I think that the satellite picture actually does it justice. You did warn us that it was just for the fishing enthusiasts - you were right. They are seriously dedicated. Cape Cross seal colony - when you get there, it absolutely stinks, but there are thousands all over the show. And of course when you go anywhere near them, they start running away, as they are so scared of humans, as they think we are going to kill them. And in the process that start to trample over the babies. We all felt very depressed. Swakopmund - We decided to go eat at one of the recommended restaurants - The Tug, which is also on the beach. Again, a stunning atmosphere, and also right on the beach. The food is a little pricey, but well worth it. The service was fantastic. We went to another recommended restaurant - The Lighthouse, which is also on the beach. Again, a fantastic atmosphere with very friendly staff and a great menu with everything. One thing that was impressive, is that the food portions are very generous, therefore excellent value for money. Your advice and directions were spot on. We could not have managed without your help. My sister in-law wants to go, so I will send her your details. Anyway Dean, on behalf of the Johnson's and Mohring's, I would like to say THANK YOU for your excellent advise and efficient planning. I know I will definitely recommend your company - well done!

Gerrit dV (JNB) – selfdrive Chobe, Savute Botswana {Repeat client}
Savuti Elephant Lodge - Accommodation and food was superb! The addition of the outside showers is also “lekker”. This is as far as I concerned the best place to stay in Savuti, really special. I did all my own drives, as I prefer and the staff was very helpful in explaining which roads were passable and so on. Wall to wall game, with elephant (of course), lion and leopard. On my last day I even got to see wild dog chasing an impala! The last afternoon, the camp manager (Kevin), and Tsollo (chief game guide) asked if I would join them on their own “game drive”; not a formal drive, just a nice relaxed cruise. Very good, as these guys really know the bush. All in all, FANTASTIC! Thanks for your help.

Jim & Judith A (UK) – flying safari Okavango, Chobe, Chete Island, Livingstone {Regular repeat clients}
All travel arrangements went well and we were picked up and taken to Mapula Lodge. The approach was very wet but it was the Green season and to be expected. Mapula is set in the middle of the marshes and access is by a long ricketty-racketty bridge, much bumping up and down but with a resident darter and monitor lizard, always something to look for. The food was good and wholesome with plenty of variety and our room nicely furnished with all that we required, kept clean and tidy, the camp was reasonably well-run. All connections went well with the transfer to the Ichobezi. Accommodation on the boat was good. Very comfortable kingsize bed, sliding doors onto private deck and venetian blinds for the sun. It did get very hot, so most of the time we left our door open to let a breeze through. There was a fan but obviously it could only be used when the generator was on. We travelled to where they had not been for 12 months, so quiet and peaceful, no other boats only mokoros and native villages. Mostly we fished for tiger - our fisherman had only limited knowledge of where to fish best so we ended up in the same spot most times - a bit boring scenary-wise but we did get tiger so .... really one cannot complain. The food on the boat was good - a wide variety to cater for all tastes and what was even nicer was the fact that we could dictate at what time we wanted to eat. I might have known things would not be right when our plane to Chete was late… The lodge is quite pretty, set up on the hillside and ringed with a wire fence, nice pool and gardens and we were greeted by Paul’s wife Sonja. They did their level best to make it nice but it was so run-down. We enquired about a game drive which is mentioned on a website and was told there has'nt been game drives done on Chete for 5 years (why?) its 24 miles long, lots of elephant, game etc - what a shame - no money to keep a vehicle maintained? So we are down to boat safari, fishing, sundowner cruise. Our room was kept clean and tidy, with zip up doors onto a paved patio - good viewing of elephants close by as only the garden was enclosed by wire fence. Food was wholesome and palateable, not adventurous and the staff charming - which was a credit to them when they must have been worried about their jobs - shame. Then to Stanley Safari Lodge - To be recommended on all counts. The lodge is a little way out of Livingston, about 1/2 hr from the airport and set up on a ridge. Their boast that the falls can be seen from every room a trifle exaggerated, you can just see the spray but the view still magnificent. Our rooms were huge, lounge, bedroom, bathroom (with big stone bath), two sets of french windows opened onto a patio with plunge pool - very nice. The lodge itself, spacious and open to the elements, cultivated gardens and an infinity pool which overlooked the valley. Dining was quite a special affair as we were asked each day where we would like to sit. …… The flight over the Falls was good, very impressive but I really enjoyed our trip to Livingston Island, we only just made it as the water was rising and we did have to wade from the boat.

Zachary & Jennifer P (USA) – Madikwe - lodge, Kruger & Mozambique overland camping
Both of our trips were fantastic. Buffalo Ridge and Madikwe were amazing! There we saw Lion and Wild Dog. The Mozambique Transfrontier was quite an adventure. First off let me say that Madikwe was awesome! The guides, staff, food and accommodation at Buffalo Ridge are top class. I would highly recommend Madikwe for the person who wants to do game viewing in comfort. Regarding the Moz. Transfrontier - We knew when booking this trip that it would be an adventure, but we had no idea at the time how much this was true. As soon as we crossed the Moz. Border at the Girondo gate our first tire went flat. Perhaps this was a sign of things to come. In 2.5 days of driving through the Transfrontier we saw no other vehicles. The Transfrontier park is bizarre, because of the total lack of people and infrastructure yet there are these nice campgrounds complete with showers scattered throughout the park. The bush is fantastic, but the only wildlife we saw were steinbuck, zebra and ostrich. We also saw fresh Elephant spoor. After transiting the entire Kruger park from north to south, we proceeded up to the Mozambique coast north to Inhambane. The weather in Inhambane was marginal, the waves were big, but the scuba diving and seafood were great. After 3 days here we went to Maputo (Mapoopoo) and on to Hluhluwe where we saw lots of Rhinos. People should know however that if they take the Moz. Transfrontier trip that it will not be a vacation, it will be an adventure that will give you experiences that in hindsight are very rewarding. Thanks for the booking Dean

Mira K (Finland) – Cape Town & Kruger
Greetings from sunny Helsinki to you. I had a marvellous holiday because South Africa was an absolutely beautiful country and I’ll surely come back! We had a great time in Kruger Park and our private safari game drive near to Thornhill Lodge. People were so nice, friendly and very helpful and the service was outstanding. The place was lovely and private safari at the first evening was so cool. We saw all the big five at that evening. I enjoyed every minute! Wonderfull wildlife, nature and birds, it’s totally different like in Finland. Blyde River Canyon at the last day was also amazing place to see. Dean, thank you for all your efforts and I will certainly recommend your services to others!

Conradie Family (JNB) – selfdrive Botswana

It was great meeting you and I'm glad we gave you an excuse to finally try Ngala. I really enjoyed that experience and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone in the future. Looking forward to booking another trip with you...and may it be sooner rather than later!

David & Bev R (Ireland) – Imfolosi & Ngala {Repeat clients}
It was great to meet you and we did enjoy being with you even if it was for a short time. Hope we can do it again in the not too distant future. . Hlatikulu was transformed. The place was spotless, ground all swept and raked, damaged furniture gone and everything in good working order. Service was excellent and the Game Guard Siyabonga Nkozi far and away the best we have ever had in the Parks Board. Well I suppose life has to return to normal but I am already looking forward to being in contact to arrange the next trip. How I wish I was a millionaire and could go again next month!!. Once again thanks for everything. You are appreciated.

Katie L (USA) – canoeing Lower Zambezi
We just got back into the states this weekend. The canoe trip was BY FAR the most amazing part of our trip!!!! It exceeded our expectations and we had a wonderful time. This is something that we will definitely remember for the rest of our lives. The scenery was beautiful and we felt that we were able to see a part of the “real” Africa. Camping out under the stars—hearing the animals in the distance—was out of this world. Thank you so much for all of your assistance. If you ever need a reference, just let me know.

Liz & Allan D (UK) – Honeymoon, Mauritius, Tshukudu & Chitwa, Cape Town. {Referral}
We had a fabulous time on honeymoon. Mauritius was fab and the Legends was great. The Legends was a picture postcard.. Just what the doctor ordered. All of the honeymoon package was in place for us and we had a very personalised service while there. The hotel service was excellent especially during the day on the beach – everything you could want was brought to you! We fell in love with South Africa and are already hoping to plot a return!! Everything went like clockwork and all accommodations & transfers were spot on. The two safaris were great and while they were quite different we enjoyed them both equally. We saw all of the big five between the two parks and saw a lot of the cheetah & leopard which apparently is quite rare! The hotel in Cape Town (V&A) was excellent and we'd highly recommend it. We were going to ask to move to a mountain view room when we arrived but they had already upgraded us as we were a honeymoon couple! Everything else was excellent and you really did a great job in coordinating it all. It was a great feeling to know when you arrived somewhere new that there would always be someone there to greet you. We really appreciate all the effort you went to in helping us organise a fantastic honeymoon (and for your patience along the way!!). We'll certainly pass on your details to anyone we know heading over your direction and you never know we may even be back ourselves in the not to distant future!!

Stuart & Yvette H, (UK) – HONEYMOON safari Tanzania & Zanzibar
We had an absolutely fab time we have no complaints about the holiday our driver Augustino was so knowledgable and made our safari so special our accomodation was very good as was the food. Zanzibar was amazing and the Breezes beach club resort very luxurious. Cheers for all your help organising things for us we can't wait to do it again soon!!!

Alistair D (JNB) – selfdrive Chobe, Livingstone Vic Falls.
We were very impressed with Chobe Safari Lodge and its facilities. There is still a lot of renovation work being done on the main part of the Lodge, but our room was very nice indeed. The dining area/pool deck is fabulous, and it was a real treat to sit out there. Service was generally very good and polite. The administration/finance there left a lot to be desired….. Thanks again for your help; we will certainly use you again when we head up to that part of the world.

Patrick S (JNB) – selfdrive Namibia.
We had a memorable holiday; completely different and better value than Cape Town or Mauritius! Your narrative directions and tips were much appreciated. Thanks and good luck with your building project.

Linda & Dave B + Missionary team from Westlake church (USA) - Livingstone Vic Falls & Chobe {Regular repeat clients}
The missionary work was received well, as you suggested below. We had super times making friends and fellowshipping with Zambian siblings in Christ. Of course, we also saw many things which saddened us and caused reflection re our own blessings. We did have a fabulous time in Livingstone…… Zebras were on the Zam Sun grounds as we came back!! We had wonderful shows by ele’s at Chobe, and some close views of buffs, but not large herds of them yet. We never found lions—somewhat disappointing, but leaves more for next time. Giraffes, impala, hippos and birds were in great abundance, along with smaller animals. I have never seen so many marmots before, what fun to watch!—and a clear, close hyena sighting with jackals was a treat. We spent several minutes staring at each other, before he ran over the sand and into the bush. The guides as usual were excellent and personable—so important when spending intense time together! Thanks again for all your hard work for our group! Well done! Linda. Thanks again for a job well done! Dave. I echo all of Linda’s comments – she was thorough… all was excellent!! Thank you so much for your help – you did a wonderful job!! Beverly C.

Thanks we had a good trip and the houseboat was a highlight – everything we expected and more - they over delivered in all respects. We had a super holiday on the houseboat. The staff were really great, they seemed to understand exactly what was required and did a really good job to make our holiday special. Thank you for your help.

We did have a fabulous trip! Thank you for all of your help. Because of you, everything went smoothly and we did not have any problems at all. I have already recommended your services to a colleague at work and I will continue to recommend you to friends! We loved Cape Town (the weather was perfect) and David was great. We enjoyed the Royal Legend Safari Lodge and the staff was so friendly. Our trackers were great, though, so we were able to see 3 of the big 5. Also, the food at the lodge was just so-so, but everything else was terrific. We loved the chalets, the setting, and the people. I wish that we had another day in our trip so we could have done more in Livingstone. The Mukuni village was fascinating and eye-opening. We wished we knew to bring more candy and other goodies for the kids. We loved the Chobe river cruise. Although there were more people on the boat (30?) than we would have liked, the setting was gorgeous and we got to see so many animals! We absolutely loved our trip overall and will sing your praises to our friends. I could not have done it without your assistance so thank you again! We will definitely be returning to Africa in the future!

Frank & Heather J (South Africa) – Bazaruto Island Mozambique
We all loved the stay at Bazaruto Lodge and were only sorry that we did not stay longer. Particularly exciting was our boat trip to Pansy Island. The ladies have never seen so many pansy shells and were over the moon with excitement. Thanks to all the staff for a very pleasant albeit brief holiday.

We had a great holiday. Fishing amazing at Lower Zambezi, game fantastic at Kruger and especially South Luangwa, accommodation and people were very helpful. Flights were good as well as transfers. Activity at the falls was great and we probably should have done a few more days there as it was a bit of a rush.

William B (Australia) - Kruger Park, Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa & Vic Falls. {Repeat Client}
Good holiday - everything went well. The lodges are obviously not in the class of Susuwe island lodge. Food was good. Chobe trip was good esp the boat - the 4 wheel drive not as good. Regards and thank you.

Ronel VG (Johannesburg) – Walvis Bay & Swakopmund (business trip)
Both the places was very nice, especially the one in Swakopmund. Thanks for all your help.

Elaine C - Chobe Botswana
We did have a great time Thank You. Some feed back for you: Inchingo River Lodges and the Houseboat. We had a great time here fishing and game viewing from the boats. The food was excellent. Muchenje - the outlook is spectacular, looking over the valley and seeing all the Zebra and Buffalo in the distance. The food and service was average. Elephant Valley is a very special place. The waterhole which is overlooked by the restaurant is magic. What a show that is put on at mealtimes each day. At times it was hard to leave the waterhole to go out on a game drive as there was so much happening there. It was probably this extra service that made our stay here so enjoyable - the staff wanted you to be comfortable and enjoy your stay. Thank You for all your help in getting everything organised.

Lynne vdH (Durban) – Okavango Delta, Botswana.
We had a wonderful holiday and, you will be pleased to know that all of your travel arrangements went extremely smoothly. Xugana itself was beautiful, exactly as I had imagined and seen from their website. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the well trained staff at Xugana, the food and accommodation was excellent. We saw plenty of elephants, hippos, crocs and one or two antelope, I think I just expected to see more variety, but we did not mind in the least as the birdlife was amazing. All in all, a super trip and I would definitely recommend you and the way you handled our trip...thank you so much. We will definitely contact you (well in advance) for our Chobe/Vic Falls trip.

Samantha D (Lufthansa Airline) – Livingstone Vic Falls, Customer Incentive.
Thanks - we had a great time :) there were a couple of small hiccups but overall it was fantastic.

Titia B (Netherland) – clients Botswana trip to Thakadu
Chris's impression was spot-on: they loved every minute of it! Marjolein, the mother, also mentioned specifically that the food was good and they all enjoyed the dancing and the walk. About the dancing they said that they didn't feel uncomfortable about calling people in especially to perform for them, because it was obvious that the performers themselves were having a ball and were enjoying their inside jokes. What impressed them most during the walk was who much food could be gather in such a dry, seemingly lifeless environment.

Maryann & Patrick C (Saudi Arabia) – Masai Mara, Kenya
Everything was fab…loved little governors and all rides and arrangements were perfect and all went on without a hitch. I really appreciate all your help on putting it all together – it was definitely NOT our last safari – we just love it too much! We saw many jeeps from other properties and hated the thought of being in a closed in vehicle with windows all day – ICK – we loved the LG jeeps, open and comfortable! And the food was fab too…all in all a great experience. You take care and I will keep your contact for future! We look forward to our next time out! Thanks you Dean!

Vijandren N (South Africa) – selfdrive Namibia
We had a fantastic holiday in Namibia. Thank you for all the arrangements.

John K (USA) – selfdrive to Pilanesberg Park.
Ted's was good. Pilansberg was fine, though clearly not a match for Kruger. Thanks for the arrangements.

Jim & Judith A (UK) – Zambia: Kafue, Lower Zambezi, Livingstone. (Regular repeat clients)
The Kaingu camp was lovely, well-appointed with everything we needed. Tents overlooked the river - pretty and the food was very good. The river surely must be the best in Africa - it was so picturesque, narrow in places with beautiful rounded boulders, twisting and turning so a new view with every backwater, hippos rumbling and eles wading across to the islands to feed. We fished every day catching yellow fin, not a day passed without landing something. Our guide helpful and courteous. Tom has started a community venture - rebuilding an iron mine which we visited and also a tour to an aquarmarine mine proved interesting - and free!!! Sausage Tree Camp. All transfers went well (you are a genius). We had a beautiful room, large spacious but rather a strange bathroom. It was open to the elements but under a large tree so.....as the wind blew, down came branches, twigs, leaves…. Our chalet was set back from the river bank but we often watched elephant and buffalo making their way down to the water. The fishing was very good and yes we caught many tiger - my best being a 12 pounder. The game drives were very good. We saw lion kill a buffalo, the whole scenario and I managed to get some good pictures, leopard (even in camp). The food was good, we even had brunch sitting mid-river on a sand bank, a laugh as gradually things started to sink, brollies went cock-eyed, chairs tippled and that was before we drank Pimms!!! The staff were kind and obliging. Then we arrived at Kulefu camp - it looked pretty unprepossessing from the river but it really was very impressive when we actually landed. Built on a Beduin-style, the tents were very attractive - huge bedrooms and large double-sink bathrooms built of concrete so no unwelcome guests apart from a few spiders. Both indoor and outdoor showers and a private verandah with lounge chairs overlooking the river. Lots of animals came past including a buffalo stampede - our own private viewing - spectacular!!!! The food was exceptionally good with a choice of menu in the evening - the first time we have ever had that including a vegetarian - pretty amazing considering how far away they are from major supplies. The game viewing took a similar path on most occasions in covered vehicles and a wide selection of animals were seen - good rangers. Again our fishing was exceptional, we caught tiger every day and - yes - I was champion yet again Then it was off to Livingstone and Stanley Safari Lodge - We had dinner on the terrace - the full monty - candles, attentive service, the company of good friends, the view over the Falls - what more could we ask to finish a superb holiday. Not least of which - a big thank you to you dear Dean for organising it all at such short notice.

Ryno V (JNB) – Swakopmund, Namibia
Thank you and it was great.

Chris I (Australia) – selfdrive Botswana
Planet Baobab was fantastic -really enjoyed the experience under the stars, even my wife who was terrified a strange animal would get her!

Mike & Sue S + Marge A (USA) – Cape Town, Sabi Sands, Hwange, Moremi Okavango.
The trip with the minor exception of the wx caused flt cnx and van trips was outstanding. Both Sue and Marge were delighted with each camp, the meals-service and the excellent game outings. We started with a rhino 20 feet from the trail right after we left the first airport enroute to Sabi and highlights included a Leopard with a Zebra kill in a tree as well as an hour spent with a large pride of lions. Needless to say they as well as I were thrilled to see every thing we came for and they are 2 very happy Safari Gals!! I would highly recommend all 3 of the camps we visited and each had excellent guides. Your driver in Capetown also did an outstanding job and his knowledge and comments as well as routings to please us were very well appreciated. Thanx for making the entire trip outstanding in every way.

Becky & TJ M (USA) – Tanzania safari – Selous, Ruaha, + Zanzibar (referral)
When preparing for our trip I emailed our travel agent in South Africa wondering what I was going to need to figure out once we got to Africa, I didn’t really understand how we were going to get from place to place, and I was unsure of cabs and etc……..he sent me a note back saying from the time our feet hit Africa we would have “no worries” and we would be taken care of all along the way. He was right…….we had people that met us, every meal was provided, there were people all along that took care of us. We lived as a king and queen for seventeen days. Selous - From the time we left camp we never saw another human, car, plane, no one, we were truly in the bush. We saw hundreds of animals that day including two different groups of lions. It was awesome! Ruaha - Before we landed on the dirt runway they had to circle the landing strip several times to get the zebras, elephants and warthogs off the runway. It was a changing show as the giraffes, elephants, all different kinds of antelope and buffalo came to drink. There are so many beautiful and different kinds of birds to watch as well. Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro & Serengeti - So it was on this part of our trip that we saw rhinos, leopards, cheetahs, hundreds of elephants, giraffes, and the highlight for me was seeing the migration of two million wildebeests, eight hundred thousand zebras, countless gazelles and the predators that go along with them. We finished up our last three days in Africa on the island of Zanzibar. It is an exotic place, and TJ and I had a great time visiting a spice farm, going to Stone Town and snorkeling and seeing beautiful and so many different fish in the Indian Ocean. Dean - You did the most perfect job putting our trip together. We love EVERYWHERE we stayed and we always surrounded by the most amazing people wanting to serve us……..we are not used to that at home and it was a great experience to be pampered like that.

Johan, Kim & Dejone S (JNB) – selfdrive Namibia
The holiday was excellent and all the arrangements were 100%. The Lagoon Lodge in Walvisbay was very nice and the owners very helpful. Stunning view as it is opposite the lagoon with all the flamingos. The Sandwich harbour trip is a must; we would recommend the 4x4 trip to anyone. The Sosousvlei lodge is very neat and clean. The scenery is excellent and the buffet at night a tread with all the different varieties. The swimming pool is a great relief in the dessert. Going into the sosousvlei park is also very nice with all the wild animals and the different shapes and colours of the dunes. The quad bike trip was very relaxing but don’t expect to see many wild animals. Cornerstone Guesthouse is excellent. The rooms are so beautiful with a stunning garden. You can see this guesthouse is in an upper class with the LCD TV, wooden floors, top class bathroom equipment and even the bathroom necessities are branded. Very cozy atmosphere with the “stoep” at each rooms entrance to relax. The Dessert Express train is a nice experience, the people were very helpful. One can see that the décor and furniture on the train needs replacement but the staff makes up for that. Thanks again for the excellent trip you’ve put together and also the excellent accommodation. One of the few trips we’ve been on that nothing went wrong.

Dana Atkinson (USA) – Kruger Park + Chimp Eden (Regular repeat client)
The trip was perfect as usual. The animals all came out to welcome me back. Within 24 hours I had seen 4 of the big five (leopard being the odd one out). However by the time it was over I had seen leopard 3 times. Lucky girl I know. Chimp Eden - WOW - what a place! THANK YOU for booking me there. I LOVED it. And I had room number 4, which was the upper far right if you were standing in the yard looking up so I had a great view of the chimps for hours. It's a chimp sanctuary and a human sanctuary!!!!

Tinus & Janine S (JNB) – Thula Thula, Zululand
Staff voted Janine and me the best guests ever! We had a lovely time whether we saw leopards or not. The staff made you feel special and Sonja is a real star. Met Francois and her hubby. They are a good combination. Staff tells me that there is big plans in the pipeline re lions and making the reserve bigger.

Gill & Tony D (UK) – Phinda, Garden Route.
I can’t begin to express how much we enjoyed our trip – and in particular the time at Phinda – it was just fantastic!!!! You were on my list to mail to say a huge thanks you for all the arrangements – they ran like clockwork and we didn’t have any issues with any of the bookings etc. Driving up the mountain in Phinda and seeing leopards and cheetah cubs was truly a life time experience! Shiney was great and the drive was fine. I have to say that we wished we’d spent longer at Woodhall – that was really well above our expectations and we really hope to return late in 2010 and would be looking for similar accommodation – the children in particular thought they’d landed in heaven. The food there was just brilliant and we used the spa and relaxed. We will definitely be in touch when we are planning our next visit and I will pass your details on to friends who are planning a trip. We really can’t say thanks you enough – despite travelling round a large part of SA it all went without a hitch and that is due to your help. We will be back….just need to save up now !!!
2009

Benjamin P & family, (USA) – Pezulu Treehouse & Garden Route.
We did enjoy our trip to South Africa very much and the highlight was probably our stay at the Pezulu Treehouse Lodge. I compared notes with my two kids and we agreed on this. I think it is their staff, enthusiastic and helpful, that made it a special stay. Driving the Garden Route and our stops in Knysna and Franschhoek were fine. Overmeer was very nice as was Le Ballon Rouge. We did go to a couple of wineries for tastings on Sunday on our way to Cape Town but none offered the vineyard tour which she really wanted. I do appreciate all of your help with our bookings and the bevy of questions you happily answered for me. I would not hesitate to use your services again, should I have the opportunity to return to SA.

Alain L (Journalist France) – Namibia & Zululand
For the most, excellent without major problem. You have been yourself - fast and efficient. In the details. THE BEST 1) transfers (all very good , special mention for the last one Rocktail Bay-Richards Bay) 2)All Namibian camps, (special mention for Sossusvlei, fantastic place) everything perfect except poor food. Rocktail Bay is a very good place. Swakopmund. "Bof" as we say in French. It is may be OK for old German retires...As I spend a day in Cape Cross, it has just given me the will next time to visit the Skeleton Coast Camp...

Olina O (Czech Republic) – Livingstone Vic Falls, Zambia
Had such a great time in Cape Town and absolutely loved Zambia. The falls are just something spectacular! Definitely worth seeing!!!! Got soaking wet though, hehe. I loved the accommodation. Had a river view lodge and loved it! And the people are so nice and friendly. Also met other travelers and just had a really good time. Many thanks for organizing everything and all your recommendations!

Patrick H & Julien S (Switzerland) – Thornhill Safari Lodge, Kruger Park
All in all, we had a wonderful stay in South Africa! Our stay in Kruger Park was great! People there were very friendly, the food was amazing! I'm really looking forward coming back to South Africa! I already miss people's smiles and all the wonderful places we saw! We'll remember this trip for a very long time, and every wonderful evenings there!

Bernd K & friends (Germany) – Botswana & Vic Falls
From Vic Falls we went to Cape Town for 2 more nights and we returned to Germany on Sunday. For the moment only thanks for your help- indeed we had a separate flight on the next day. It was very enjoyable. I will send you an extra comment in the next days - everything was perfect!! (DEAN: I am still waiting for "the next days")

Gerrit D.V (Johannesburg) – Camp Okuti & Tau Pan Camp, Botswana – selfdrive (Regular client)
I was away for 7 nights (as you know), but in hindsight, I should have stayed 5 or 6 nights at only Okuti or Tau. I did just over 3000 km for the week; so time to really get to relax was limited. You would think by now I should know this… Be that as it may, I really enjoyed the trip, except for driving out of Moremi on Wednesday, which was a bit tough. The new Okuti is really different. Outwardly the new structures are not my cup of tea, but boy, inside is FANTASTIC! Very spacious and very tastefully furnished and the materials used are very different. It also has a splash pool now. The staff, food etc also very good. I would certainly go back there again. Tau Pan Camp - The setting is really stunning and you can virtually see the curvature of the earth. Of course the food and service were very good. It is a very different atmosphere than either Moremi or Savuti, as you are surrounded by all this SPACE. Lots of wildlife on the pan and also managed to see cheetah and African Wild cat and bat eared foxes, oh and lion. Lovely herds of oryx and springbok. Birdlife also quite different with a lot of raptors. The new air strip is a 10 minute drive away, and I assume most people will arrive there. This is the first lodge in Central Kalahari and certainly worth it. Thanks for all your help!

Jim & Judith A (UK) – PomPom Camp - Botswana, Royal Zambezi Lodge – Zambia (Regular clients)
Pom Pom - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Our tent was nicely appointed over looking a wide lagoon with at times hippo fighting - quite spectacular. It had all that we required and was very comfortable - lit by oil lamps at night outside and interior battery lamps which were quite adequate - outside shower - a little chilly when it rained but guess that will be good in "the dry". The food was excellent, brunch buffet but with a bacon and egg station (so cooked to order). The evening meal was a buffet with excellent choice - quite plainly cooked but it meant we ate just what we wanted - so no waste. Whilst all the staff were charming …. Our game drives were lacking in huge quantities of game but we knew that being in the green and the grasses being so high, sightings were special as we worked for them. We saw leopard on our first drive at very close quarters… Our fishing was productive in that we caught every day - nembwe (a type of bream) was was given to the staff, we had a choice of two fishing spots (lagoons) the third was unsuccessful as it was covered with weed but it was en enjoyable river trip getting to it, the morning coffee was taken amongst the lily pads!!! A bonus was an elephant which had taken a liking to camp and wandered through every couple of days. Royal Zambezi Lodge - Talk about being treated royally, I had to stop them even putting milk in my tea and stirring in the sugar!!!! We were'nt allowed to lift a finger - oh boy its hit hard now we are back home with Jim expecting the same treatment. On arrival they gave us the most beautiful suite - huge bathroom, kingsize bed draped, wide verandah with outside shower plus tin bath, a walkway took us to the day bed set under thatch overlooking the Zambezi and finally a plunge pool. Comfy upholstered chairs finished off the charming surroundings. Our butler kept it all spotless and even brought us our early morning tea - to bed! All staff were extremely pleasant. The fishing was good - in that we caught squeaker (for camp staff) when water not right for tiger, caught fish every day - we were happy little bunnies.

Gerrit DV & Family (Johannesburg) – Kasane, Lower Zambezi – selfdrive. (Regular clients)
Toro Lodge was mostly under water (Kasane) and I have never seen the river so high there. ! Kayila is very quaint and really very peaceful and I really enjoyed it there. Very basic, but good enough. Royal Zambezi is stunning and I could have stayed another month. We did most activities by boat as it was really overgrown and you can not see more than 2 meters from a Landrover. The Park is cut off by the river at the moment. Fishing was great and we caught tiger every day. Thanks for your help. Kind regards

Graham & Molly S (UK) – Cape Town & Mkuze Falls Lodge – Guided.
We had the most wonderful month in South Africa and your recommendations and organisation were the major reason for this. The Commadore was first class and we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite with Table Mountain in full view. However our visit to Mkuze Falls Game Lodge was the outstanding feature of our visit. I did not know what to expect, but the accomodation was absolutely fantastic and the actual safari's were something else. We had outstanding sightings of four of the big five - leopard eluded us; but this was compensated for by the cheetah. You proposal to have Shiney stay with us was a success, she ably assisted us throughout and we had lively debate. Please give her our thanks. Our kindest regards

Craig W & sons (Johannesburg) – Tshukudu, Pezulu Treehouse & GomoGomo – selfdrive.
Tshukudu was very nice. Enjoyed the family culture and friendly and professional approach demonstrated by all staff. They feed you far to much! Nice combination of 'tame' and wild game. Accommodation is average. Pezulu was disappointing. Quality of the game reserve and rangers also sub par. Meals where OK all though accommodation very unique. Gomo, Gomo was fantastic. Great service, food, accommodation and the Timbavati/Klaserie area is awesome. Quality game and bush, interesting and fun rangers. Highly recommended.

David & Bev R (Ireland) – Kruger Park, Drakensberg & Zululand – selfdrive. (Regular clients)
Hi Dean – we are back home and missing the bush. The holiday was fantastic and here is the feedback: Plains Camp Walking Safari - Excellent and well worth the money. Will certainly do that again. Outstanding Ranger who knew the bush and obviously had an academic background as well. Rhino Post Camp - A most beautiful camp, The camp and service and hospitality were excellent. Giants Castle - The Lodge is magnificent but too big and was impossible to heat. As with most of the Parks Board places things are not quite what they used to be, Baths don't drain, heaters don't work properly Still it was really nice and is a fantastic place. Hlatikulu -was as good as ever and has had a bit of an upgrade so it was really nice. The Ranger/ guide was Nkozi and as with last time was outstanding in every way. Mkuze Falls Tented Camp - Quite the best I have been to. The Ranger Petrus and his wife Rachelle the camp manager were excellent and the service quite excellent. A lovely camp and the game drives were outstanding. Definitely going back there as soon as possible. So thanks for organising it all. Will be in touch for the next trip. Regards and hope things are well with you.

Nik & Angela B (UK) – selfdrive Durban, Zululand, Kruger. (Regular clients)
(Received whilst at MalaMala): Just to let you know having an awesome time, we are 2 of only 4 guests so got vehicle to ourselves at Rattrays! Ranger is a Sharks fan! Mkuze Falls - Great! Umhloti - good! Tshukudu - absolutely amazing! Arathusa - Brilliant!

Linda C & Friends (USA & Canada) – Camping safari through Botswana
I really loved the safari trip! It was amazing. Camping was tough, but overall, the facilities were a lot more accessible then I had expected. I think Botswana is just beautiful. The people, the animals, the plains and the sunsets. I came away understanding so much more about animals. I spotted 4 out of Big 5. Sujatha's group said they spotted a leopard's tail on one of the optional game drive. What I did not expect was how much time we spent on traveling on the road vs. actually observing animals in the wild. I thought we might be driving through national parks, and camping in the wilderness. Also, another really useful tip for us to know ahead of time was to pack small items like pens, t-shirts, socks on the trip to barter at the curio shops in Zambia. It was a great experience to barter, first time for me. Thank you for helping us organize our trip. Best Regards, Linda
Olga S (as above) it was a great trip. :) A bit long on the camping front for some of us less experienced campers (I think having a couple of nights in a bed would have been nice), but we saw tons of great animals and had lots of fun adventures on the trip. I liked the campsites along the way, especially Planet Baobab. Overall, I thought the food, the guides, the campsite facilities, the planned activities, etc. were all great and better than I expected them to be - the "participatory camping" wasn't that huge of a burden, except when we had to lug dishes to a more distant water source (but that was only once or twice). In addition to bringing items to barter away at the curio markets, I would also suggest that you spell out more precisely in the trip documentation that winters really can be cold and that bringing gloves, hats, etc. is a really good idea. I know we were all told that it is winter down in South Africa and Botswana, but until we shivered through the night in our tents, I don't think anyone really understood how cold. Again, thanks for coordinating everything for us. I'll definitely recommend you to any other friends who might be interested in venturing to Africa.

Malini R & family (USA) – Kruger Guided safari
We had an excellent time at Kruger despite the problems that my son and his wife went through due to flight delays and the subsequent chaos. All the personnel at Tshukudu , Gomo-Gomo and Chimp Eden were very accommodating and professional. We had plenty to eat and in fact a lot to eat. Thank you, Malini

Dave & Linda B + Church Outreach group (USA) – Zambia (regular clients)
We had a great experience in Zambia overall. Your part went without a hitch. Zamfari was welcoming and kept us feeling at home while we waited for our World Vision guide. Pilot was very personable and skilled at his job. Kafunta was spectacular—first night we saw two leopard and one male lion. We also say hyena up close, they were sitting in a field and we drove right up. Jehosophat was our guide and seemed to pull sightings out of thin air. Last morning we saw a leopard in a tree and then walking away and a male lion eating the leopard’s prey. an elephant came just below the dining deck as we were having supper and entertained us as he sought the fresh grasses and proceeded to get one leg, then another stuck in the mud! Thanks, again, Linda.

Zuzana & Nuh (Europe) – 4-day Kruger Lodge Experience safari
We enjoyed our travels very much. Indeed the safari and the Lodge off Kruger was great. The only things from the package we did not like was the Amadwala lodge, it was freezing cold there. The staff there was great though. Thanks for your help. We are hoping to go back one day again.

Elizabeth T & friends (USA) – 3-day Kruger Lodge Experience safari
Just wanted to shoot a quick email to say thank you for booking such a wonderful safari! Nick Amy and I had such a great time and could not have asked for a better safari experience. The lodge we stayed at was so great and the staff was so friendly and we saw the big 5 and more! Thanks so much!

Paul & Kirsten M (Denmark) – Bushmanskloof Wilderness & 12 Apostles, Cape Town (Repeat clients)
THANK YOU for again organizing the trip of a lifetime for us. Everything did most certainly go according to plan and once again our dreams were not fulfilled they were totally exceeded! We can definitely understand why Bushman's Kloof was chosen as best hotel in the world by readers of Travel and Leisure magazine. The service they provide cannot be described, it really has to be experienced. Totally personal while at the same time being unobtrusive. They have a formula for success in surroundings that can't be beat. 12 Apostles was also a great hotel, very secluded and very well appointed. We certainly hope to be back in South African again soon and when that happens we will be sure to get in touch. You seem to have a real knack of matching things from the enormous array of offerings that South Africa has with our personal tastes. Never hesitate to put anyone in touch with us if you need a reference. We will be sure to give you our very best recommendations! Thanks again and all the best.

Lyn C (Nelspruit) – selfdrive Bonamanzi Lodge, Zululand
(Lyn’s parents + sister & family were going there for a few nights and she drove there and spent a couple of nights without them knowing that we had arranged this.) It was great – thank you! The staff were great (I was especially impressed with the reception staff who knew who I was when I arrived and knew it was a surprise!) The food was fantastic & the camp is very peaceful and naturally laid out. I wish I could have stayed longer! Thanks for all your efforts.

Nadine & Mathias Z (Germany) – Namibia, selfdrive.
We had a fantastic time in Namibia and everything worked the way it was planned and organised - YOU DID GREAT JOB, THANKS!! The itinerary was really helpful and took us everywhere as described, the accommodations were good (except Gesserts in Keetmanshoop - that was the one I found in the Internet when the one you recommended did not respond to our request - we would not recommend you to include them in your list.) We also followed your advice and went to the Fish River Canyon Main View Point - and we realised that you were right, we should have stayed a night in that area and do only one night in Lüderitz instead of 2 ;-) .... . However, you always know better afterwards ;-)!!!! We will definitely go back to Namibia and see the Northern Part and we will contact you when we plan to this or plan a trip to Botswana. It was great working with you and African Bundu Safari and we are looking forward to plan our next Trip to Africa with you - hopefully soon! Thanks again for your great service and support! Best regards from freezing Germany.

Attila S (Hungary) – Lagoon Camp & Duba Plains, Botswana (repeat client)
Lagoon Camp: We (guide and tracker) spent almost all the 4 days tracking the 3 cheetah brothers. We had many wonderful opportunity with those beautiful cats. We saw a kill (impala), a chase (g kudu) and many more. Apart from this I saw the Lagoon pack of wild dogs (1st encounter in my life), giraffes, zebras and lots of birds.
Duba Plains Camp: perhaps even better. Ist morning Tsaro pride decided to hunt. As the pride getting older and Silver Eye is not any more in the pride they just be able to hunt for weak buffalo. That is what happened. Anyway they made a kill, right in front of us. I think this was the highlight of the trip. Then I saw mating of Skimmer Male with one of the Twins - several times, finding and watching the enormous buffalo herd alone was brilliant. There were elephants, red Lechwe, bat eared foxes and side striped jackals around. Found also an active fish trap. Last big thing was to find a foraging aardwolf!!! So I am really satisfied. I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you very much everything. I have no idea at the moment if I can return or not. If yes, I won't hesitate to contact you!!! Kind regards.

Melba W & family (UK) – Royal Zambezi Lodge, Zambia
The food was just adequate and there was no choice, however the staff were more than helpful and the fishing was fantastic. Thank you for all of your organization, everything went smoothly and we all enjoyed the holiday, I will recommend you to anyone visiting South Africa. Where would you suggest for our next visit? Thank you once again.

Dana A & Michael (USA) – Benoni Pillars JNB & Kruger Park – selfdrive (regular client)
WOW - it's always hard to come home from South Africa and this time was no different. It was fabulous to show SA and Kruger off to Michael. We had a great time with a lot of laughs and great memories. The first few days were cold and rainy then it became wonderfully hot and beautifully lush. We went from Malelane to Crooks Corner and all in-between. We saw four of the big five on day one. Leopard eluded us the entire time but we had great lion and cheetah sightings and saw more white rhino than I have ever seen before. Benoni Guest House was wonderful as usual. They had a nice crew of guests; many local South Africans which was great for Michael as he really enjoyed the dinner conversation as a great introduction to the country. Thank you for everything. You know I will be back ASAP......... :)

Leslie & Donald L + children (USA) – customised Kruger safari, Guided.
We had a great trip. Africa was incredible. Johan and Assil did a superb job guiding us. We will certainly recommend your services to friends. I think the orphanage was one of the highlights. The young cook, Luther, who put us in touch with the group was delightful and so thrilled, as were all of the kids. (African and American!) Thanks for helping us create a memorable Christmas! Happy New Year!
2010

11 June to 11 July - Year of Fifa World Cup to be hosted in South Africa.
South Africa as you would know has been hosting the Fifa World Cup 2010 - and what an awesome job has been done. WELL DONE South Africa and Fifa. We have had a number of tourists and Football fans that have been travelling around South Africa, enjoying the matches and of course, enjoying the South African hospitality as well. Luckily, we have been able to assist a number of these fans in organising a safari holiday whilst they are here, and some of their comments are included below.

Shah Family, (Kenya) – Johannesburg, Namibia, Botswana & Vic Falls – Self-drive.
We had planned to do this trip for such a long time and it was a dream come true for us. Would definately recommend this trip to others and have you organise it for them. On the whole,we had a wonderful time. Thank you. Driving & comfort wise the car was excellent & perfect for our trip. Only had 1 puncture on the way and luckily no other mishaps. Canon Lodge -Ideal location, very nice Chalets, good food & very friendly staff. Betesda Guest farm - Quite disappointing. We were given a family room which I think had not been opened for some time. Hotel Garni Adler – Nice small hotel with clean and very comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff. Twyfelfontein Lodge – Perfect location, friendly staff, huge variety of foods. Okaukuejo, Etosha – Here we were fortunate to be upgraded to a premier chalet! The chalet was very luxurious & the view amazing. Food was a bit disappointing. Halali Camp – The chalets were quite big and adequately furnished but the upholstery & outside area were a bit dirty. However, they cooked some good meals for us. Mahango Lodge – Perfect setting, right on the river and it was a full moon night. What more could you ask for? Crocodile Camp (Maun) – Most disappointing of all the places we stayed in. Kwara Camp – Out of this world. Were made to feel like royalty. Very friendly staff, excellent food and perfect setting. Kubu Lodge – Good location, nice setting and views and quite comfortable. Waterfront, Livingstone – Excellent setting over the Zambezi river and ideal for booking all activities.

Tobias M & family (Germany) – GomoGomo Lodge, Greater Kruger Park
First of all thank you very much for helping me finding this awesome lodge at Klaserie! It was just amazing and we enjoyed every single moment in this lodge. we were so lucky to spot all of the other big five and lots of other beautiful animals. The highlight was on a afternoon drive, where we first saw a female leopard with a cub and a hyena fighting her and finally stealing the kill of the female leopard! The hyena was not even two meters away from the vehicle eating the kill. It was such a amazing experience, which I will never ever forget! Thank you very much again for your assistance and everything you did for us, whenever I have somebody coming towards Kruger/Klaserie, I will definitely recommend you!!!

Brian & Teona P (UK) – Botswana (Savuti, Okavango & Central Kalahari) – regular client.
Savuti mobile camp - excellent, a bit primitive of course, but great staff. And you know it's a good spot for animals. Kwara camp - hmmm. Disappointing. Because it's a private concession, they can operate game drives in an enormous area (and these were good), but they are very restricted in where they can go in the Delta itself, so the 'Delta experience' is confined to two lagoons outside Moremi, and rather tame walking and mokoro trips which we chose not to do. My main point about Kwara is that there are many better locations for the Delta water experience (boats and walking), which I realise would increase the costs. I have no moans about the drives, or the service - they were very good. Tau Pan camp - what a setting, and what a camp ! Stunning, top service, and a huge contrasting landscape to the others. Animals of course are widely dispersed in the CKGR, so we had no expectations of prolific viewing. Would definitely go there again, and it was a great way to finish up. Teona reminds me that we did have a great evening fishing on one of Kwara's lagoons. She caught all the fish, so maybe that's why I didn't mention it! Thanks again for your help. Hope the recession is not taking too much out of your season & it won't be too long before we are using your services again. With best wishes.

Di & John E (Australia) – Drakensberg Mountains & Johannesburg – selfdrive.
We had a great time and appreciated all your work - particularly detailed directions. All accom was excellent though sometimes the food was not up to scratch. Rock art fabulous - culminated by a visit to the absolutely wonderful Origins Museum at Wits University. Car Hire: effortless - fabulous directions thanks. I must admit we were a bit apprehensive about driving - however we found our trip from Durban to the Drakensburg without incident. Though sometimes signage was a bit tricky. Some signs have now gone, but no major problems as we had the Avis map book - it was excellent. Didima: Very comfortable accommodation. Beautiful outlook. Visited the Rock Art Centre - spent a couple of hours - and walked to Rainbow Gorge on our first full day, drove up to the hotel to have a drink and watch the sun set. Next day arranged to have Joel the guide take us to Didima Gorge via Mike's Pass and the Nek. Didima food - pretty ordinary international-style. Would have liked to sample something out of the ordinary that was SA. No pap in sight! Giant's Castle: . Chalet comfy. Pouring with rain - Staff were happy to launder and dry our clothes - three days of wet stuff by this stage. Food here was pretty dismal. Hard to find worse. Sad because it is a really beautiful place. . We saw eland grazing and some reedbucks - on the way to the rock art shelters. This guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. Learnt a lot from him. Cleopatra's Farmhouse . Quirky interior design. Beautiful setting. Dogs took us for a walk up the hill and around the property. Still raining. More-than-I-could-eat 5-course dinner. Interesting and inventive food, mostly delicious. Good wines. Happy staff. Waybury House driver met us as planned and we had dinner at the B&B as again it was pouring and we were tired. Next day we went to Lesedi. Enjoyed it, though it is pretty touristy. Dancing was fun to watch and join in. In the evening we went into Mandela Square for dinner. We were intimidated by B&B staff from venturing anywhere else for dinner. Waybury House was very comfy, quiet and well-guarded - I have never been imprisoned before! Staff friendly and helpful. Drivers great. Overall impressions - very very beautiful. Despite all the warnings we had no incidents of any kind, even with baboons - except at Storms River Mouth. Thank you so much for your well researched and detailed plan of travel for us. I have already recommended you to a friend who is returning for the first time since she left in about 1965.

Guntars & Lilita A (Latvia) – Vic Falls & Botswana Flying safari + Cape Town & Franschhoek.
Holidays was GREAT!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I cannot to stand out one lodge to another - all of them was excellent, but special thanks to Rick from Stanley Safari Lodge (My birthdays cake's presentation show was first class) and Jennet from Kwara. Special thanks also to Kwara guides - to be in the Africa's sunset in the middle of nowhere, close by three sleeping lions just couple meters from our car's wheel and three cheetahs on next hill in the same time - this is unforgettable!!! Just us and two guides. My wife cried….. Eric is nice man, (Cape Town Guide) good professional. Lots of thanks to him. Wines and food in Franschhoek don't need any comments. . Our luggage was opened in JNB ( You warned us!), but nothing was disappeared. Just, while we explained this situation with Livingston customs, all the cameras disappeared from my hand luggage, so I arrive in Africa without photo and video equipment. Painful of course, but on the other hand - may be it is better - I could enjoy Africa without any obstructions. Thanks a lot for this wonderful travel! And I definitely don't say - farewell. I'm sure we will be in contact again; Firstly - I couldn't catch fish in Zambezi. It is the second time when I am in Africa and remain empty handed. So, I must try once again! Secondly - I need those pictures with unbelievable Okavango sunset and lions, and thirdly - now I have a trustable, professional man who can provide it. Thank you very much and the best wishes for You and all around You!

Gerrit D.V (Johannesburg) – Nxai Pan (Botswana) – self-drive, regular client.
Nxai Pan Lodge was very professional, efficient and everything was as it should be. What can I say? Stunning setting.
Had some massive storms on 2 afternoons which turned some roads into an absolute nightmare, but all worth it. Had a great sighting of a rock python, being kept away from the nest of a Korhaan, by the Korhaan. All other sightings were very good and I really enjoyed my time! Took a stunning pic of storm over Makgadikgadi.

Anne & Niels + grandchildren (France/Denmark) – Vic Falls & Botswana flying safari.
We had a great trip. We all 4 enjoyed the trip very much. It was well planned, the time at our disposal at each lodge absolutely adequate. Of cause there were things that could have been better, but after mentioning it, all did their best to help us, and they always succeeded in the most pleasant way. So we are satisfied, we will not hesitate to use you again, and have recommended you to 2 couples, who are thinking of going in our “footsteps”.

Paul, Agnes, Andre & Martine (France) – Panoramic Route, Kruger, Zululand, Sun City (selfdrive) + Botswana flying safari & Vic Falls.
Hard to come back home after such an exciting trip! First, whatever the place we were, we did enjoy and appreciate the lodging, the food and all the people who met, in South Africa, Botswana or Zambia. We all would like to underline the perfect organization of our tour, thanks to your recommendations and suggestions we had before by mail exchanges, and the detailed instructions, day after day, you gave us. That was for instance of great help, for driving safely in South Africa (and Swaziland) and complemented very well the information of our GPS (highly recommended for going in and out of Johannesburg, especially at night!). We particularly liked the landscape, when we drove back to Joburg from Thula Thula, through the Zululand! But the others were also so interesting! We benefited of the season time, “the green season”, and enjoyed it, even if it was harder to find animals in the parks because of the high grass! Arathusa Safari Lodge. Very good place, and the one where we saw the more animals in a day, and particularly lions! Bonamanzi. A great place! We had an isolated big and nice house for only us. We should have stayed longer! It is a good starting point for visiting the various parks and the ocean coast. Wendys cottage. Warm stay, with an exceptional botanic garden! Thula Thula. Good place, but we saw fewer animals. Perhaps because of a shortage of water in the rivers. Sun City Cabanas. Good resort. We never saw such big breakfast and dinner buffets! Good place for visiting the Pilanesberg Park, which is really beautiful! Xakanaxa. The best of our stay! We can’t compare wit other lodges in Okavango, but this one is really a must! A great comfort, with tasty chosen furniture, and the real feeling to be isolated somewhere in the nature. People were charming and the driving safaris very good. The landscape is of course exceptional. Chobe Safari lodge. Good hotel. The boat cruise was very interesting, a great moment to assist to a family elephants bath! Zambezi River Front. More simple comfort, but enough, with rooms very nice situated along the river. The sun set cruise on “your boat” was nice… Finally, the walk near the Victoria fall was also a great moment with the included shower! “Bravo!” for the perfect organization and timing of our tour! Every thing ran very well, the flights and the various transfers (especially between Botswana and Zambia), we were completely taken in charge and not anxious! To conclude, I must say that all of us have very much enjoyed the tour you organized and have now excellent memories and many pictures! We hope one day to come back to South Africa or in nearby countries, and undoubtedly, we will contact African Bundu Safaris and you again to organize our trip. I will highly recommend you to people I meet and that wish to have a personalised tour in these parts of Africa.

Tracy & Samuel B (USA) – Johannesburg, Chimp Eden & MalaMala.
Dean and African Bundu Safaris were the most professional and courteous company I’ve had the pleasure to work with. All of his recommendations surpassed my expectations. While in country our plans changed and I needed all of my reservations moved up a week at the last minute. Dean worked furiously to get this accomplished quickly and was so pleasant and efficient. He really helped me get through the stressful situation. I would recommend anyone planning a trip to South Africa to work with Dean as he is very knowledgeable in so many aspects of travel in the country. His recommendation of Mala Mala Game Reserve turned out to be the best travel experience of my life. The game viewing, staff, food and rooms all surpassed my expectations. Our guide Andrew had been at Mala Mala for four years and was fabulous. He knew the answers to any question given him and was so personable you felt he was a friend. On my next visit to South Africa I will be calling Dean and returning to Mala Mala.

Richard N & Family (USA) – Livingstone.
We really enjoyed the Bushfront Lodge. It has an excellent location and the staff was very nice. Since the water was very high we took the helicopter and Microlight flights. They were absolutely amazing. Please recommend them strongly to other people visiting. Thanks for your help.

Stine & Ole (Norway) – Botswana Overland camping safari
We had a fantastic trip! Thank you so much For everything!

Thank you so much Deano! It is great to be home after a wonderful holiday.

Jim & Judith A (UK – Lake Kariba (Zimbabwe) – regular clients.
Already I miss Africa - can you believe - especially when it comes down to unpacking and mucky washing - aaah the price one has to pay!! Musango Safari Camp, All transfers went according to plan. The camp is nicely appointed with calm waters on one side which was handy when the wind blew on the other side making it rough. Rooms were situated through cleared jessie at some distance from the main camp - torch necessary! . Beds comfortable, amenities kept breaking down but were swiftly repaired. Steve had erected a 3 band electric fence around the island - definitely not a plus as we love animal interaction of the four-legged kind. Food very good 8/10. Fishing - as expected, slow until we visited the sluice at the Croc Farm - then excellent. Scenically very pretty but few animals. Then we were transferred to Rhino Safari Camp. A gem of a camp, loved being on stilts and open to the fresh air - when the lake turned breezy, it was heaven like being on the seashore and at night to feel air on your face when in bed. The thatch came a little low down which obscured the lake view but very comfortable. Jenny is a genuine type owner/manager, we got on like a house on fire but still having to struggle a bit with Zim money and the Parks Dept. ! Food quite good would rate 7/10 and hospitality 10/10. The fishing was very good - catching Giganticus my 70lb vundu thrilled me, a lodge record, and CAUGHT BY A WOMAN!!! We caught 386 bream for the lodge and staff which put us in very good books, many families will have fed well with our efforts for which we are well and truly thankful. The best game was on the island, loads of elephant (in camp) lion, impala etc. . The staff were lovely, in particular our fisherman "Funny Boy", he was so kind and thoughtful - made a speech as we were leaving saying he had never enjoyed himself so much and would we please come back. The same was said by our waiter who sang to us whilst bringing our early morning coffee - can you believe! We would - hope to return to Rhino - it’s not for first time visitors to Africa but for those who seek that little less luxury but combine it with more of a hands on bush experience, honestly it could take some beating.

Ivan V (USA) – Tshukudu Game Lodge, Greater Kruger Park
Tshukudu holiday was great. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are nice, the food is great. The game drives are also terrific. I also met some nice people among the guests. People who came from Kruger told us that they have not seen any cheetahs in 2 days and in ˝ hour at Tshukudu they saw 4. Cheetahs are one of the highlights at Tshukudu. . I would highly recommend Tshukudu and would go back myself. Again, thank you for arranging this for me.

David & Bev R + friends (Ireland)–Zululand – selfdrive, regular clients.
We had a great trip. Always sad to leave but good to be home. Imfolozi was just too hot 37C every day,but still nice. The staff were very good and did their best, the bush lodge had been upgraded but each time things seem to be drifting a little , smell of gas, door handles that don't work. Still it was nice being there and we had great sightings even down to a leopard drinking at mid day right in front of the camp. Elephant and Rhino in among the huts at night. Mkuze Falls closed the tented camp for renovations which was a real disappointment and upgraded us to the lodge. The place was fantastic. Worth every cent. We saw absolutely every thing up close and personal including a lion kill on a poor little warthog and some wonderful scenes with elephant and cheetah. Will definitely be going back next year. Talking of which seems it will be 8 or ten people and once I have more definite dates I will be in contact for suggestions for where to go.

Alice T (USA) – 4-day Kruger Adventure
It was amazing. Thank you so so so much for helping me out on such short notice. Everything was perfect and I definitely want to come back. Made some awesome friends at the Kruger camp and on the safari, and don't even get me started on the animals. This safari made my entire trip so unbelievably worth it. Ack, just talking about it gets me excited again! I really can't thank you enough!!

Rodrigo A (Mexico) – Vic Falls & Chobe
The trip was amazing, everyone was always very kind. About the services everything was great an on time. Just the walk tour to the falls didn't take place because I think other clients didn't show up but the girl from the activities office booked me a cab and paid for it and the entrance for the park that I had already paid. But everything was great. The Chobe Lodge was amazing, great service and food. The transport from and to Livingstone was awesome and safe, so good and comfortable. The thing I liked the most was the Microlight flight, amazing experience. I will totally recommend you to friends and family coming to Africa in the future. Thanks for everything, cheers

Dave & Linda B + Susan B (USA) – Kafue Park, Zambia – regular clients.
We really liked Lufupa. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. From a wildlife perspective, the pickings were mixed. The highlight was many leopard sightings! We lost count after five. Two of the sightings were quite long – we watched them laze around, preen themselves, and just be relaxed. Probably the best leopard sightings we’ve ever had. But the only other Big Five we saw were a few elephants. We saw lion tracks several times, but not a live lion. We also didn’t see any cape buffalo, although they are supposed to have them in the park. The park doesn’t have rhino. There were several animals we had never seen before – Liechtenstein Hartebeest, Roan Antelope, African Porcupine, plus probably a few others I can’t think of right now. There were a large variety of birds, really quite colorful and pretty. We took a boat ride that was very quiet. It was wonderful, taking advantage of the best feature of the park, no crowds! . We’re were actually delighted with the place. It was a quiet, peaceful African experience. In fact, the quiet was probably related to the fact that the large mammals are less common. So for us who had already seen the large mammals, it was great! Overall, all three of us loved it. (Dave & Linda)

I enjoyed the camp. The hostess, Jacquie, and Phil, our guide, were very personable and knowledgeable. We felt right at home and they were good about helping with any special requests-such as charging my camera battery or extending the drive time to see what might be around the bend in the road. The other staff members were quite attentive and the food was delicious. The tents were comfortable and I especially enjoyed the hippo visit on the other side of the canvas right next to my bed one night! :0 It has added spice to my story telling now that I’m home safe and sound!  The reserve was lovely (in fact, it looked very much like the Texas Hill Country!) and the tents being situated on the beautiful river gave a serene and restful quality to the afternoon breaks. There were lots animals and interesting birds to observe. You heard about the numerous leopards-very cool! While we didn’t see too many of the flashier African animals, the game rides included interesting facts and some less noticeable things that might have been missed on a more action packed adventure. We may not have spotted lions, cheetahs or wild dogs, but we could hear lions roaring at night. Not to worry! The absence of hordes of land vehicles laden with people all trying to photograph the same thing was refreshing. Perhaps it was due to the time of year we visited, but I would caution about the Tsetse Flies. Guests should bring hats with netting, gloves and scarves. The bites hurt and last for a few days after the initial contact. All in all a delightful experience so thanks for setting it up! (Susan)

Kevin & James (USA) - 4-day Kruger safari
We had a great time. I especially appreciated that I could reach you after hours and on the weekend. That made it a lot easier to book the trip with the 9 hour time difference. (Dean-sometimes not a good idea for me as it means I work overtime!!)
The safari itself was great. Thanks for putting it together for us.

Francisco & Stephanie - Colombia, self-drive during Fifa
Many thanks indeed for your kind message. Just got back home after a stopover in London. I enjoyed SA very much and had a great time. I can only speak highly of your country and your services. Looking forward to contacting you for our next trip to Africa.

Johan & Val, Underberg, South africa - Self-drive to Namibia
What can I say, I have fallen in love with Namibia. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into the bookings and preparation of our holiday. All went so smoothly, it was a real pleasure. Your added information was read to the driver each time prior to arriving so we all had the information needed. There was just so much to see and in the end so little time. The distances in Namibia and the travelling were way beyond expectation and wherever possible we took the back roads. NOT even a puncture although the flicker fuse blew at Etosha from some rubbing in the towbar, despite not having anything being towed. Had it looked at in Tsumeb but then Windhoek we took the day and "pampered" the vehicle with a complete checkup at the auto-electrician as well as a car wash. The weather also played a hand in making our stay so enjoyable. Only had to wear jerseys down south and then we packed them away until the night drive in Etosha! . The Lodge at Sossussvlei was delightful with out early morning dry to the dunes and delightful service. Well advised for those who want to spend time in the dunes but in a bit of comfort. . Thanks again for your advise - the detour via Twyfelfontein. We arrived just in time for the afternoon drive and even got to see the Damara elephants at sunset with champagne! The petrified forest was also worth a stop. Etosha was fantastic. Did a night drive the first night we arrived saw a kill with at least 10 hyena and dozens of jackal, as well as a fully-grown male lion on his own, with rhino and plenty of other animals. The second night we just spent at the waterhole and saw some elephants but then saw 11 black rhino at different stages all competing for some water. As you said and all the books we took - NWR were not too helpful in Etosha. Upon arriving at Halali - very poor quality of service and our room was almost hotel like with no atmosphere or "feel" that you were in bush. Thank you once again for the outstanding service you provided! Thank you Dean for your efforts and I can truly say that even after 9 and a half thousand km's this was a holiday we will not be forgetting too soon. Regards John and Val

Heleen, Jacobus & kids, Fort Beaufort, South Africa - selfdrive Botswana
So, we are back in the real world, facing our everyday resonsibilities and the kids are back at school. Our holiday was perfect, wonderful, awesome. We did a lot - travelled 6500km in total but also came home well rested and full of energy. All your booking were well organized with no problems - thanks again for that.
Thakadu at Ghanzi was lovely - accomodation very nice and cosy - the whole setup had a personal and warm atmosphere. . I would strongly advise anybody that visit Botswana not to dare travel at night. We met a few people that traveled at night and hit an animal with lots of damage to their vehicles. Drosky was fine - the staff very friendly and accomodating. They are developing a new section .. Nata Lodge gets 10/10. Everything was lovely and all the staff very professional, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent at a reasonable price. We thank God that we are home save after this lovely holiday. I hope you find this feedback useful and thanks again for your help.

Fernando & Friends, Mexico - Kruger Safari during Fifa
Hey Dean, thanks for the welcome message, I think that the safari was excellent, we saw almost all the animals, the guides are really prepared and also very nice people, the only thing It's a little tough is that it's a lot of time between every stop so probably more stops during the safari for drinking a soda would be excellent, but we really enjoy our safari, it was one of the best experiences in SA, you have a wonderful country and for sure we'll return, thank you for all!! all the best

Mark & Irina, UK, HONEYMOON - Tswalu, Bushmanskloof, Franschhoek, Cape Town (Repeat clients)
Tswalu amazing thought Singita as good as it could get but I was wrong would recommend in a heartbeat the ultimate travel experience....and the flights another world from federal air more like private plane totally amazing. Bushman’s Kloof very nice very romantic meal at the cottage amazing game drives little tame after Tswalu but guides very informative and hospitality great.
La Residence again amazing everything top draw felt like a house guest couldn’t have been better. 12 apostles little disappointing after above hotel looks dated and secluded position ruined by road infront of the hotel.....position too secluded transfers a pain to organise with shuttle and private transfers proved expensive...but staff again very welcoming and food was excellent. But a very wonderful honeymoon - thanks very much. Mark and Irina

Walter, Anneli & 3 children - Ghana - Kenya Guided & flying (regular clients)
Once again, I need to thank you for helping us plan an unforgettable African adventure. All the logistic of the trip went smoothly, no hick ups and no surprises. We could just “show up” and enjoy a wonderful adventure. Kenya is an amazing country. The people are friendly, the scenery breathtaking and the wildlife abundant. I had to pinch myself several times to ensure it was not just all a dream. The time of year was also perfect. The lodges were not too busy. The weather was great as we had some rain, but the roads were still in good shape.
Here are some feedback on the drivers and lodges. Panafric hotel was ok. They did not have adjoining rooms in superior which they said we were booked for. We just settled for standard rooms because they were adjoining. Rooms very basic, but good enough for just one night at a time. Restaurant was lovely, food good and service too.
Amboseli Serena was a good location and very comfortable rooms. This was a big hotel but we expected that. What the hotel lacked in intimacy for its big size, the staff made up for with friendliness. The bush barbecue was also very very good, both food and atmosphere and worth doing.
Mara Intrepids rank for us as the top hotel we have ever stayed at on any of our African safaris. The hotel staff was the best. Nelson our tent attendant, John our waiter and Johnsons who took the kids on kids club was amazing individuals whom made our stay so enjoyable. The family tent is out of this world and I cannot believe that not more tented camps offer this. Our driver, Rafael must have been one of the most knowledgeable drivers we have ever had.
Tobias our driver for Amboseli was also a good driver. Waterlovers in Diani Beach is also a wonderful hotel. They have paid attention to all the detail regarding atmosphere. Service was not the best, but was not too bad. I think coming from Intrepids we were very spoilt and had high standards.
Overall a very very enjoyable holiday that we will always remember.
Thanks again and hope this feedback might help you plan some trips for other clients. Anneli

Thomas L & family - Johannesburg - selfdrive western Cape (repeat clients)
Kuruman – Die Oude Werf. The overall setting, in a U shape around a courtyard with Thorn trees is quite nice, the rooms are clean but not exciting, at least not the family unit. Staff is friendly. The place is good enough for a 1 night stop-over. On the way back we decided to change and stayed at the Redsands country lodge, just outside of Kuruman, beautiful site, the chalets are oldish but comfortable with a really nice view on the sunset.
Augrabies – Family units must have been revamped recently...Goegap – Beautiful nature reserve, peacefull, fantastic sky at night...The buildings are set in a small valley, quiver trees and gemsbok, sunbirds and colourfull rock lizards, flowers - It is really worth staying there.
PortNolloth – awkward little port, beautiful drive to get there from Springbok. The place where we stayed is right in front of the ocean, one of the oldest houses in town (from the mid 1800’s). A timber house, not one straight corner, gaps at all windows and doors, almost squeaking in the wind, it is tastefully decorated, beautiful pieces of furniture, rustic and comfortable, it boast loads of warmth and character. Only down point the bathroom that is really oldish.
Lambert’s bay – Not much to say on the apartment, right on the beach, very central and convenient. The town has its charm and atmosphere, we went for lunch to Muisbosskerm, an open air restaurant few kms south, really nice fish buffet, affordable cash bar and lunch right on the beach.
Clanwilliam – The yellow aloe is very nicely fitted, centrally located, nice breakfast and pleasant staff. It is a garden centre as well as a guest house. The town (at least the one street) has lots of character, pleasant and quite place, beautiful drive up the pass to the northern tip of Cedarberg.
Calvinia – funny enough the town is packed with guest houses… Some of them seems to have been nicely revamped ... The town itself is not really interesting (we missed the Vleiss festival by one week), and trucks are winding down the main streets towards Upington.
Upington – Die Antkanal, is very quiet, the rooms nicely made, comfortable; we had the possibility to make use of their braai and terrace for diner. Regards, Thomas

Pamela & Roberto, Italy - Cape to Zululand to Kruger to JNB, (selfdrive)
This is to thank you and to tell that everything was perfect. We enjoyed almost all places: Bluegumhill in CT was very nice, the owner and her assistant absolutely kind; Balloon Rouge in Franschhoek right perfect; Bridgewater in Knysna a great value for money; De Harbour in Hermanus had a faboulous view; Woodall is Roberto's favorite one, we loved it; Ntaba in Port St Johns was ok for one night stop; Wendy was so African and she is great; Hilltop a good value for money as well; Mlilwane in Swaziland a very funny stop, Tshukudu and the cheetahs will remain in my heart for ever, Iketla and Albert are brilliant.
I skipped Pezulu which is the only one we didn't enjoy at all. Dean, this is not a complaining, but be careful to sent your clients there. Your road guide was even better than our tom tom, absolutely useful.
South Africa is a breathless beauty place and people are incredibly friendly. We are absolutely happy with you and we will keep to speak of you any way we hear someone interest in Africa. I don’t know when, but sooner or later will Namibia is in our plans. Now... at work. Thanks for everything, really, thanks. Love Pamela

Georgina & Micheline, USA - JNB, Clarens, Drakensberg, Zululand - Selfdrive
Yes my mother and I returned safely Sunday afternoon after a long journey. Our vacation was too short. We had a most wonderful time. We had an easy drive to Clarens and I'm happy to report I adjusted quickly to driving on the opposite side of the road. The Periwinkle B&B was just lovely. Hanta, our host, was very kind and served the most glorious breakfasts. Our room was very comfortable and it was a good place to rest up from our trip.
. The accommodations at Giants Castle were very comfortable and very clean. We went on some nice hikes and saw the cave paintings there. Shakaland was a cool experience. The lodging was neat and the food quite good. My mother and I really enjoyed the music and dancing portion of the experience. It was great.
Wendy's B&B was fantastic! Again the lodging was comfortable but it was the food that made for a memorable visit, the gardens too. Wendy was very helpful in helping us determine how to divide our time. She made reservations for the boat cruise which was a really nice way to spend the morning. She also pointed us to some local craft markets that were great for souvenirs. The dinners there were truly great.
. Again we found the lodging at Hilltop and Mplia camp to be extremely clean and more than sufficient. We had plenty of food this time and enjoyed making our meals and eating them outside. While we were there we went on a night drive at Hilltop and a guided walk at Imfolozi.

The scenery everywhere was so different yet so beautiful. Every day we were amazed at the diversity of the animals and birds. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. Thank you Dean for all your help and time you put in organizing our trip. It was a grand adventure and a dream come true. I hope to return to Africa many times in my lifetime as long as money and time allow. I will certainly reach out to you and recommend you if I hear of anyone wanting to go. Thanks again for everything. Georgina and Micheline

Ann, Peter, William + friends & colleagues, Australia - Zimbabwe Lake Kariba, Zambia Kafue & Vic Falls (repeat clients)
we had a wonderful holiday and have already, and will continue to, recommend you to others booking a trip to Southern Africa. Everything was really well organised and Lufupa in particular was extremely good with Jackie and Robert very helpful, informative and friendly and both very good ambassadors for Zambia. The food was fantastic and the whole experience 5 star. Whenever we needed info you got it back to us extremely quickly and once again many thanks for doing such a great job for us.
The houseboat was super with the staff all very pleasant and helpful. Food was home cooking style and enjoyed by all and the staff were great. It was really the most wonderful holiday ever. Thanks again and hopefully you will hear from us again in the next year or two - everyone already asking when we are going to organise another trip - maybe Zanzibar, Malawi??? We will dream away until you hear from us again ......Ann.

Sara & Margaret (90yr mother), USA – Panoramic Route, Tshukudu, MalaMala, Cape Town – Guided
Almost every day of our trip my mom said, “This is beyond my wildest expectations!” Even when she was tired, she was so happy to be in each place we visited. After a good night’s sleep on arrival in Johannesburg and a good breakfast, Johan (Safari Guide) took us under his wing and talked almost non-stop (delightful, not overbearing). Tshukudu was what mom expected of the whole trip. She wasn’t disappointed then. She was entranced by the tame cheetahs, even though I was scared out of my wits the first evening to find one on our doorstep before anyone TOLD me they were tame. MalaMala was, of course, breathtaking. Cape Town was wonderful and mom liked Marius (Cape Town Guide) right away. I loved Hermanus and mom loved a lookout Marius knew above Hermanus where she and Marius sat happily while I walked a bit. We ate at such fabulous places—a restaurant in Hermanus where the whale watching boat went out, Delaire at the Graff winery estate, and Baia in Cape Town (a recommendation of Mrs. Rattray). Our favorite though, was Benguela, a small stucco house in the town just beyond deKelders where we ate twice because we loved the food and the waiter, who knew the town were mom lives in Maryland. Know that we would give you rave reviews. I hope that my husband will consider planning a trip with you next year for us.

Jim & Judith, UK - Lower Zambezi (Sausage Tree Camp & Royal Zambezi) - regular clients
A bit of info about Sausage Tree. Lovely room as usual but still the probs with the outdoor bathroom - leaves, twigs, branches, ants, scorpions and bird poo, despite our superb butler cleaning 3 times a day. Food was brilliant and would give 9/10....Fishing.....I managed to pull in an 18lb Tiger and took the lodge record for this season (not bad for a mere woman)....lots of elephant, lion, hyena, impala, water buck, kudu, wart-hog etc. Transfers went like clockwork - guides charming (renewed a lot of old friendships) made very welcome.
Arrival at the Royal Zambezi Lodge - What a greeting - it was like the Royal Procession. There must have been 7 people waiting on deck to meet us - hugs and kisses all round - it was wonderful. We had our usual room - it was like coming home. There still was the usual problems getting into the Park but only 4 boats allowed in. All in all, we had a lovely time - because we know the little pitfalls, we were able to work around, we were made so welcome - like long lost members of an extended family - we are very fond of the Royal.

Dana & Michael, USA – Namibia overland safari (regular client)
We are back. Thank God we planned to have today off to get rested and organized before we go back to work tomorrow as we arrived exhausted from a fantastic trip. All transfers were great both in South Africa & in Namibia. All were on time (early in fact), in clean and neat cars and had safe and very personable drivers. I would certainly recommend each of them again! One of our group travel mates had so much trouble with their transfers that it made me that much more grateful I had used you and I recommend they too use you for future Africa bookings if they wanted a trouble free holiday!!! Benoni (In Johannesburg) was, as usual, a delightful place to stay and rest for our first night in Africa. Dinner was delicious and it was great to see Philip and Elna again. Hilltop House (In Windhoek) was absolutely beautiful. The view of Windhoek could not have been better. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. Breakfast in our room was delivered on time and was absolutely delicious!! We really liked that place a lot. And when we returned after the trip they were perfect hosts remembering us and our preferences and welcomed us back with open arms. The tour of Namibia was perfect in every way. There were seven people including ourselves. The guide was very knowledgeable, a great safe driver, good cook, good guitar player entertaining us after dinners in the bush, and filled with great stories and information about Namibia. We love Namibia and her people. We mingled with Himba after hiking 5 kilometers along the Angola border to visit a remote village. We hiked 8 kilometers up and down dunes in Sossusvlei. We saw and did things people can only imagine in their wildest dreams. And as we sit here in our living room writing this email we are cherishing every memory! Thank you for all of your help in booking this fantastic trip that will fill our minds with great thoughts for many years to come!!! I also wanted to comment on Joes Beer Garden for future customers to Windhoek. Michael and I loved this place. We went twice; once each night we were in Windhoek. We ate Crocodile, kudu, orxy, springbok and ostrich. All of it was fantastic! the atmosphere, local beer selections and the food are all wonderful!

Lynette & Family, Zimbabwe – business trip to Swakopmund, Namibia (self-drive)
Thank you so much for your help and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. The hotel was lovely the food was great particularly at the Hansa and we were treated well. My husband and i were very impressed. We managed to get home safely after all that driving! Thanks again at least now we know to book way in advance and to book flights next time!

Marlene, Family and friends, Cape Town – Namibia (self-drive)
Compliments of the season to you and your family! We had a great time thanks to you. I wanted a customised holiday & African Bundu Safaris offered to make one to suit my needs. We had a wish list and Dean made it happen! :-) We were very happy with everything!

Gina & Chris, USA – Livingstone, Chobe, Lake Kariba & Cape Town (Through Travel Agent)
Chris and I are still positively glowing from our trip. it truly was an adventure of a lifetime, and we really loved all the places you chose for us. They were totally different in activities and accommodations and we loved their uniqueness. Overall the trip was totally off the charts. The thing we loved most was the remoteness and quiet of each place. To us, luxury is being in the middle of beautiful surroundings having a quiet candlelight dinner on an island with only 6 other people and lots of animals. Next time we will probably book the entire 2 weeks on safari. cape town was nice, but we loved being with the animals. Now we know! The service was incredible at all the places. The managers at Stanley, Ntwala and Rhino were incredibly informative, gracious and engaging. You could tell they really cared about your trip. All of the staff along with the locals were all incredibly laid back and helpful. We felt spoiled the entire time. The transfers worked out perfectly. Always on time, polite and helpful. If I were to give friends a review of the place and what to expect, here's what i would say: - Stanley: one of the most beautiful and romantic spots I've ever been. The rhino walking safari and white water rafting on the Zambezi were highlights for us. Ntwala: wow. this place is a gem. the lodge and accommodations are obviously very beautiful but the shining star was that every room had its own boat and guide to use for the day. We fished for tiger fish (caught one!) and did a river cruise on the Chobe, which was stunning with lots of great game viewing. it only has 4 suites on the island, so each meal felt intimate and lovely. Rhino Safari Camp: although we loved the other places, this was our personal favorite. The area of land it's on is rich with game viewing (we saw lions and everything else in the area) plus you are so close to nature. we woke up from our afternoon nap eye to eye with an elephant that was eating from the tree next to our hut. another night, chris woke up because he could hear lions growling. sure enough, their paw prints were right outside our hut. You have to enjoy the outdoors and be prepared for it though. This is luxury camping, not luxury accommodations. Pinard-on-the-sea in Cape Town: cute boutique hotel but I probably wouldn't stay here again. I can understand why you booked us here though- it's right on the water in the prime part of the beach town. Truly the trip of a lifetime though. Thank you again for your recommendations and help booking! Also, happy new year!

Beena & David, USA – Kruger Express safari
The safari was wonderful. Our guide was great & the food & accommodations were very nice. Lymbe was a surperb guide & the game sighting was fantastic from day one. All the dinners & breakfasts were scrumptious as well. The lodge accommodations were excellent.

Jane & Keith, UK – Cape Town, Garden Route and Wild Coast, Drakensberg, Battlefields & Zululand, Self-drive, repeat clients.
Bluegumhill Guest House - Excellent. Very friendly and accommodating staff, breakfast delicious and four nights was just enough. …. wonderful hosts at Wilderness Manor and the guest house is stunning. Very beautiful with wonderful views. Luxury accommodation to say the least. Spotlessly clean and top quality everything! We could have stayed there longer to explore the surrounding area a bit more. Woodhall Country House was also top quality if off the beaten track a little. Two nights certainly enough here. Accommodation and food excellent though. Schotia Safaris - fantastic!!! …….. We saw a lioness taking her kill to her cubs who came running out of their hiding place and started tucking in, a male lion roaring at us from a distance of about 6 feet, a rhino head-butted the landrover and we saw two hippos,in the dark, out of the water walking through the bush!!!! Umngazi River Bungalows we felt was probably more suited to families but we did enjoy the break here and were amazed to see cows on the beach!! Clean, friendly and excellent food. Didima Camp was our only disappointment in the whole trip. Although the resort was superbly placed, we felt it was a bit tired!!! No aircon or fan and the doors and windows had to be kept closed because of the baboons. Also we had specifically returned to the mountains so that we could walk. No guided walks or drives were availalble due to the recent bad weather and the place just had a 'closed' or 'end of season' feel to it. The staff were just about polite but no more than. Food average and service slow. I personally would not recommend this resort to anyone. The disappointment of Didima was soon forgotten when we arrived at Isandlwana Lodge. I burst into tears when I saw the view from our room. Its a wonderful place and the tours very very informative. Food and service spot on! Thula Thula was fantastic... Our first night we were the only guests on the whole reserve but we never felt isolated like we had at Didima - fantastic staff and resort. Very friendly and accommodating. Game drives and bush walks brilliant. Cried when I left here (I know I'm a silly old fool). Overall Dean we had an amazing time in South Africa and already I want to go back and we are not yet half way through our long trip…. Your driving instructions were absolutely marvellous and we couldn't have managed without them. They were so good we very rarely looked at the map. Thank you so so much for everything. Good luck and hopefully we may travel to your beautiful country once again.

Nik & Angela, UK - Kruger, Tshukudu, Arathusa, Rattrays @ MalaMala, Bush House Madikwe - selfdrive + flying - regular clients
We had pre-booked two nights at both Satara and Olifants and one night at Letaba in Kruger Park. We had many frustrating attempts at communicating with the Kruger National Park staff before we arrived, both by email and telephone. the gentleman who decided to actually do something at the fifth time of asking, motivated by the email being copied into one of the senior executives of Kruger National Park, still managed to cock everything up. He went on leave without making any of the arrangements he promised he would do! The reception team at Satara were also less than helpful when it came to trying to sort something out when we arrived. Our first evening we decided to eat in the restaurant and yet again incompetence reigned supreme! When we told what appeared to be the restaurant manager it was the worse meal we had ever paid for he simply laughed! Anyway, the following day we went on the Mananga Trail with our Guide, Charles, and had a fantastic few hours driving through a restricted part of the reserve. Olifants was better, just, but other than a magnificent view it has only slightly more to offer than Satara. At around 5:00 p.m. the bats in the restaurant woke up and emptied their bowels before flying off for the night. What we watched next was even more bemusing, we watched the staff just brush the bat poo off two tables and cutlery onto the floor then move the tables slightly so no more landed on them. They didn't even sweep the floor, let alone disinfect the table or change the cutlery.

The welcome we got was exactly what we have come to expect at Tshukudu. We love everything about Tshukudu, the people, the atmosphere, the food and the interaction you get with hand-raised animals.
Arathusa is another lodge that we absolutely love and again it is because of the people, the food and the relaxed atmosphere. The game viewing is also excellent.
What can we say about Rattrays on Mala Mala that we haven't already said before? The place is amazing and is worth every single penny it costs to stay here. There are many things that we love about the game drives at Rattrays. One of those is things is that there are never more than four people in a vehicle and so you have plenty of room to spread out, which is useful if you take a lot of camera equipment with you! The location of Mala Mala helps make the game viewing exceptional, its entire eastern border runs alongside Kruger National Park along with the fact that the Sabi River runs throughout the property means that you are always in with a great chance of seeing the Big 5.
We stayed at The Bush House with Dean in 2006 literally right at the end of our World Tour. We loved it and as it was one of the best places to try and see Brown Hyena and Wild Dog we headed back there this year. Since we were last there it has changed ownership and Sue & Gordon who are now the owners are a fantastic couple who make you feel incredibly welcome. Their waterhole is fantastic and seems to have a constant stream of wildlife at it, dozens and dozens of Elephants each day, Rhinos, Hyenas and man different types of bucks. We loved the game drives and whilst we never saw the wild Dogs we saw brown hyena several times over the four days along with black rhino and plenty of lions. Gemsbok and Red Hartebeest were two of the different bucks we saw alongside lots of other different game.

Brian & Teona, UK – Durban, Wild Coast, Drakensberg, Mozambique, selfdrive + flights (regular clients)
The disastrous weather in Umhlanga, Wild Coast and the first day at Didima but the weather got drier as our holiday progressed. Not much to say about Umhlanga - it's a beach town, and if it's in the middle of a lengthy tropical storm, it doesn't matter where you stay. . Wild Coast is hopeless if you can't get in the pool, on the golf course or beach. Also lacks atmosphere and is looking rundown, and catering needs an upgrade. For me, the golf course is the only attraction. Didima was spoiled by the weather, but it's an attractive camp; supplied catering is not good; self-catering would be a better option. Kruger camps - such a huge difference between GomoGomo and Lion Sands - reflected of course in the price. Quality of service was decent in GG, but superb in Lion Sands. Polana is fine - hugely underoccupied, so we pressed for and got upgraded to an executive room in the main building. . Flamingo Bay was classy - much more so than Barra Lodge, where diving is the focus. I'm glad we extended the extra nights, because there are just enough activities apart from diving to fill 5 days. They have the pace just right for us non-divers and they cannot try hard enough to provide decent service. Beautiful location. Polana and Flamingo Bay. The weather affected the first half badly, and the loss of Teona's suitcase was a big pain.

Jim & Judith, UK – Rhino Safari Camp & Matetsi, Zimbabwe – Regular Clients.
My how quickly a month has gone by when you are enjoying yourself. All went well on our return flights with no hiccups and we arrived back, tired but with, again, such happy memories. Rhino Camp - What a super welcome we had with both Jenny and FunnyBoy waiting for us at the grass strip at Bumi …. What a lovely time we had - close encounter with elephant looking in our chalet - virtually a nose to nose with Jim who, I swear, did'nt even breathe for 10 minutes. But the ele came to us, scratched his back on the thatch and his bum on the upright stanchion. Jim only needed to put his hand out and he could have touched him - obviously did'nt but the ele came to us not vice versa which was wonderful. We had lion spoor under the chalet during the night and saw later. The fishing was incredible - 322 bream which fed the lodge and staff and left the freezer full….. Would definitely recommend to folk who like the more rustic approach to safari-ing combined with the fishing activity. Kariba at that end is so pretty with islands and inlets - perhaps I should'nt recommend - just want to keep it for ourselves!!! Matetsi Water Lodge - Well we finally arrived after Solenta took us via Hwange but our transfer was awaiting and connections went well. Our accommodation was actually a bungalow - very spacious - large bedroom, queen size bed - double doors onto patio with plunge pool. Middle doors for private dining (not for us - we like the company but you could dine the entire time in your bungalow) very large bathroom double sinks, bath, indoor and outdoor shower, separate loo. Food was only middle range with the same menu being repeated - one night the steak was so tough the maitre d offered to cut it for me but even he could'nt manage it - offered it to our butler to sole his shoes!!!! The dining area was on the edge of the Zambezi but with individual tables - on a couple of occasions other guests asked us to join them as they also wanted company - nice. . Matetsi has three lodges with approx 36 guests if full. They have two boats (pontoons) and 3 boatmen. and I think we would return at a later time in the year when the fishing is more productive. We did manage to fulfil all our orders for fish for which they were extremely grateful and we had fun catching barbel. - on our last night we returned to our bungalow to find the bathroom floor, covered in flowers and tea lights beautifully arranged with lovely messages and a foam bath overflowing with bubbles - a thoughtful touch from the staff and greatly appreciated. (Note from Dean – Matetsi has now been taken over by a Zimbabwean company, so there could be changes since Jim & Judith were there in April 2011).

Mireille & Andre, USA/Europe – Botswana & Zimbabwe – our USA Travel Agent & Partner
Our trip was perfect. Your selections of camp excellent and the promptness of each air transfer remarkable. We truly have enjoyed the variety of camps. Little Makalolo has been totally updated and the camp lodging is superb. Rhino Camp was truly a great wilderness experience that I also would highly recommend. Jenny is great and does not know what else to do to keep you happy. Her accomodation could stand a little freshen up while remaining very basic. The Guide Stephen was excellent and you really should try to get him if you have clients that want to do a Canoe trip or have a great guide no matter where they want to go in Botswana. We did indeed enjoy Little Kwala but I had no idea it was because of your generosity that we were there. The guide Bally was excellent. The big problem was the baboon at night. Everyone complained about their loud noises all thru the night. I know this can't be helped and that was another real jungle experience. I was dreaming of that trip and you made the dream a superb reality, Andre and I both thank you and are very grateful for all your help, advice and guidance.

Sue & Martin, Australia – Amboseli Park (Kenya) and Zanzibar Island (Tanzania) – via SA Agent
“..they were very happy about Amboselli. They saw Mount Killi everyday and took some brilliant pic's! Were disappointed that there was no predators but have seen them elsewhere anyway. Zanzibar was good to, where they stayed the first night was average and on the Island the place was very good. The ocean was brown and dirty but that goes with the time of year they travelled…”

David & Bev, Ireland – Rhino Plains Camp & Gomo Gomo Lodge, Kruger Park – Regular clients
Had a GREAT time. Perfect weather, amazing sightings, good service and friendly staff everywhere. Food requirements well catered for too. Thanks for all you did. We had the best trip ever. Rhino Plains Camp was great. So much better when you are there as a group and I think it made things very much easier for the ranger. Saw a fair amount of game there on the drives but very little on the walks. However just being able to walk for hours in the bush is such a blessing. Everything was perfect and the African Ranger gave us a good few laughs. Really excellent as long as folk understand the difference between walking and driving about. Gomo Gomo Safari Lodge... What can I say? It is great value for money. Magnificently sited with so much to see around the waterhole. Clean and comfortable and good service all round even though the Camp Manager was on leave. The two rangers really made an effort to show us everything there was to be seen, including the big five on our first evening drive and then on another occassion driving for miles to see cheetah. I would certainly go there again as I think it is very good value. If you have been to other lodges then of course you may notice that the place is run as cheaply as possible. All the best and thanks again for all you did.

Peter & Ann, Australia – Mozambique – repeat clients
Thanks everything went as planned with the normal hickups. Flight from Maputo to Inhambane went via Vilanculos for some reason. Flight from Vilanculos to Jhb delayed 5 hours due to technical problems. Inhambane was better than Vilanculos in my view. Service at Flamingo Bay fantastic and lots to do. The fishing was fully booked so we should have booked in advance but I think only because it was Easter. I did manage to organise fishing at Inhambane eventually but through a private friend of the chef. It was just the hotel boat that was fully booked. Bazaruto Lodge service was sub-standard in my view but fishing was good. Not as much to do there.

Dave & Linda + Missionary group, USA – Royal Zambezi Lodge, Zambia – Regular Clients
I have nothing but praise for the Royal Zambezi. They were very nice, the place was lovely, they served tea and coffee in your room at the wake-up call!!! They also had more than the usual set of gamedrive activities. Some of us went canoeing, some tigerfish fishing, i had a massage. Another possibility was a hike and game walk, but we didn't have time for those. The game viewing was spectacular--they found a recent lion kill and we spent hours over two days watching the various stages of devouring until the lions and jackals left and the buzzards were taking over. Also, the requisite hippos, antelope and elephants. No leopard, but you can't have everything! The staff was particularly congenial, although they didn't eat dinner with us as sometimes happens in other places. They did however, sing for us at the request of our 18 year old beauty! Brought out the drums et al. the food was really extraordinary.

Heinz & Doloris, Austria – Namibia, self-drive
Thank you and compliments: all bookings and arrangements worked perfectly well, the lodges were fine, the suggested routings well driveable , great weather throughout the journey– no difficulties with the car nor with animals nor with anything. The only dangerous situation was a large bush fire approaching Okaukuejo Lodge in Etosha. Highlights : Sossus Dune Lodge +++ ( very friendly staff, great location ) Palmwag ++ ( location, staff ) Okahirongo ++++ (wow, what a place – but one must arrive by car to appreciate its remoteness !) Both Etosha Lodges (surprisingly “cozy”, despite their size and substantial mass tourism ! A total (financial) waste there, however: the organized game drives. One can – and should- visit all spots and waterholes with your own car, as they do not take you to areas otherwise not accessible . Plans for the next trip are materializing in our mind already and will aim further into the north western parts as well as towards the Caprivi Strip, possibly. Thank you very much for all your help and logistics (and patience with broken legs!)

Fabrice & family, France – 4-day Kruger Lodge Experience, Guided.
It was completely successful, that everything was ok, well organized and managed, on time , ...We saw more or less everything we wanted to see except 2 : the leopards and the Blyde River Canyon due to a strike. I was right to change my dates to stay in Thornhill : very good comfort and welcome from Claudine; Colin was also a very good driver, always on time and safe drive. We will come again, especially if you offer a discount to faithful customers !

Nik & Angela, UK – Kruger – Tshukudu, Arathusa, Rattrays at MalaMala – Regular Clients
Had a fantastic time, was great to catch up with the Dunbars and we even got to see the Sharks play in Nelspruit! Tshukudu is still everything you would want it to be (thankfully) and they really pulled out all the stops for us. Arathusa was also fantastic and Ashleigh, the new Manager, is a lovely lady and will do very well there. Rattrays was everything that we expected and again they looked after us brilliantly. Next year, will be three/four weeks in September/October - it will involve you, Hermanus and Stellenbosch or Franschoek, but we are undecided about whether to go back to Tshukudu/Arathusa or go somewhere new still! Cheers for now.
